Where do people keep these fobs? My solution is not the most elegant!

That little pocket on a pair of jeans works pretty well..

Never with the key itself though.

These things are a pain. What is the most logical thing you can do with them, as I assuming it defeats the purpose having them on a key ring?

1 is always in the car and so if it's driven off with 1 it will trigger a phone call to me (a pain if I forget the 2nd one). If on my key ring I won't forget it but I guess if someone gets hold of my key they can drive off without triggering the alert but the car will still be tracked.

They sound as if they are are pain, I'm considering if I want to activate the tracker on mine - I may have to depending on which insurance company I choose. Not only is the annual fee expensive in my opinion, but you have one for each key, take them in the car on every journey and remove them from the car every time it's locked - yet you mustn't keep them attached to the car key.

You can over write the tracker using the app on your phone if you forget the fob...also on my Cayenne it flashes a warning as soon as you start the car. My OPC supplies its loan cars with a Porsche key ring that has a pocket in it which they put the fob in. Does defeat the purpose but I've lost the fob once already!

Decided not to activate my tracker for that reason. Changed insurance companies as my last insurer wanted £1750 without the tracker on. I now insure through Classicline .... they didn`t even ask the question.

Don't suppose you have a pic of the Porsche key ring? Mines is on with a rubber band which doesn't look great. It is annoying to carry around

Always found tracker fee more than insurance saving so never activated it. If the car gets nicked I don't want it back anyway.

Yep, I'd like to see that if there's something purpose made.

There's that pocket you can see on the side for the fob and there's a larger pocket the key can go in. I actually ordered two earlier this week. Not cheap but hey that's not why you buy a Porsche!

I used to keep mine in my wallet. I've only ever left home in the car twice without my wallet and got a text alert a few seconds later.

Double winner because it ensures you don't accidentally leave your wallet behind!

I have a really annoying feature with my car whereby I still need the fob even though the car doesn't have the tracker activated. It turns out that if you decide not to activate the tracker when new you can instead have the fob act as an immobiliser. The OPC didn't realise this when I bought the car and collected it from Swindon. It was only discovered on the journey home after we had stopped for the night and unloaded our bags which also contained all the handover materials including my spare keys and two fobs. When I got in the car the same evening it refused to start unless the correct fob was in the car.

The fob now remains in the car with a spare battery.

Do all 991's do this? You give the impression having it as an immobiliser is optional - if so surely it can be switched off? However, it's not a bad idea having the fob do this for extra security without having to pay for the tracker service, but it kind of defeats the object if the fob is kept in the car or indeed fastened to the keys.

My car is a 997 and the impression I was given is that its optional but a PITA to undo afterwards. I agree that it adds another layer of security which would be welcome if there were better ways of managing it rather than having to carry a chunky piece of plastic around with you. I had read stories of people managing to start their car whilst the fob was in the house and then being stranded and knew it would only be a matter of time before the same thing happened to me so decided to remove that risk by leaving the fob inside the car.
