The A2 was a brilliant car and in many respects is far better than anything Audi offers now. The issue was they were "witheringly expensive" when on sale. They were almost all alloy, rode well and very economic. I think they still look good... just Audi's greed stopped them selling.
Audi's greed?

Christ. Any excuse to bash Audi on here laugh

Makes a good point though...A2 was in many ways an excellent small innovative car, just too expensive.

So yes, Audi's greed did stop them selling better than they should of...

Maybe Audi charged a premium for it as it was almost all alloy, rode well, economic and generally very innovative. Quality isn't cheap!

Fiat Strada Abarth 130TC. Was nowhere near as unreliable as people think and didn't rust as bad as people made out. Well, mine and my mate's one didn't and his was by the coast for most of its life.

Saying that, I'm not sure if they came over here as a limited run as over 700 came to the UK.
Ah, the car that got me into cars, along with the Uno Turbo. The Strada was a bit of a beast by all accounts.

The Tipo Sedicivalvole didn't sell well either despite really positive reviews at the time. Nor did the Abarth Punto although the Abarth 500 has.

And just to go a bit crazy, perhaps development and production costs were quite high which therefore pushed the retail price up?

...and even crazier, maybe they decided they'd like to make a profit on each one, rather than sell them at a loss?

Say what you like about the A2 but not a cool car by any stretch of the imagination.

Yes, the Tipo 16V didn't sell much at all. I'm surprised the Abarth Grande Punto hasn't sold well compared to the 500 to be honest especially as it is a larger car. Ahh, Uno Turbo's.........I love them.

Unless you know the actual cost price, then that is a rather sweeping proclamation.

Before reading this thread I didn't realise they did a mk6 golf r convertible. Can't recall seeing many of any mark of golf convertible over the years.

Surprisingly only seen one evoque convertible, I'd have thought they'd have sold in greater numbers. Hateful looking thing, should never have been realised.
I was in traffic behind one of these the other day. It just made me think of one of these.

A VW Thing, Trekker, type 181. They had a number of names, none of which concealed the awfulness of it.

Why do you think it's embarrassing. Seriously it's the British public that post on here with such attitudes that is really the embarrassment.

it's like walking around with a clown costume on, some are comfortable with it and others aren't.

Because it's an utter abortion of a car with no redeeming features, hideous to drive and a monstrous carbuncle to observe.

Still, feel free to blindly defend it because it has a Yank OEM name.
