Jalopnik reckon that the US isn't getting the choice of the Track Pack.

<URL-hider because the swearybot doesn't look one of the words in the Jalopnik URL>

But if the US is getting it, that's going to be quite a few of those 300 that wouldn't be sold if the steering wheel were on the other side, straight off the bat...

yes but the Super snake is cool has 750BHp , RHD and cost £40k less !

As I said I am not sure who the Jag is aimed at. if you want a muscle car the Super snake wins hands down.

Bet there isn't. I can't see anyone in their right mind paying £150k for this. 300 build run? So that will be 10 for journalists to hoon around in and generate lots of column inches, and 290 unsold.

At £150k for the XE range this must be the halo car to end all halo cars. When BMW roles out the M5 4wd it will be a good 3 way read to see which is best along with the Merc E AMG.

Looking forward to it and dibs to Jaguar for expanding the choice.

Standard Porsche Turbo, not the S, with the overpriced options you actually need is about that price. How much do you love your family ? smile

Why is everyone comparing it to the E and the 5? Because it's not a coupe? This is an XE and as such a direct competitor with the M4 GTS more than anything.

Are you thinking of XF? XE is 3/C class size/rival.

Well done, nice engineering exercise, but other manufacturers have mainstream cars at a third of the price that are within 0.2 of a sec to 60 and 10mph of the top speed.

As someone that has just been looking at £60-70k sports saloons, Jaguar have nothing that competes. Time/money should be spent there IMO.

And the XE is 700bhp and will make you £40k.....

The XE is aimed at collectors and enthusiasts. I'm pretty sure if you haven't received an invite to buy one, you won't be getting one!

For "collectors and enthusiasts" read collectors (speculators) and speculators (dick heads). Why can't they stick to buying gold bars and racehorses and leave the cars to true "enthusiasts" who will drive what they buy and choose something that offers perceived value for money. By paying through the nose for rubbish the dick heads just drive up the cost of cars for other drivers who are not so well heeled.

If it wasn't for those collectors and speculators, would these cars even be built in the first place?

You could class one of my friends as a collector and enthusiast. He's had a few GT Porsches, and of course enjoys the fact he's not losing money on them, but still drives them. Just because someone buys something and is attracted because they appreciate, doesn't mean they aren't car enthusiasts!

Jaguar sell to a Global market not just UK, those 290 will be sold, the vast majority to collectors in US, Middle East and Far East which these days includes China. Unlike the UK, many parts of the world are still 'Jaguar' fans. All the project 7 cars sold. Some of the cars might end up racing and be built for race series around the world.

In the case of this hideously overpriced car and the M4 GTS would the world really be worse off without them?

It's probably more about economies of scale than expertise. The Germans can absorb changes to parts materials and design far more efficiently than Jaguar, who apportion design and build changes across a much, much smaller number of units.
