MOT Advisory note, valid?
Discussion
Hi
Some advise please....
4yr old Smart 2nd MOT in its life.
Had the car in Brussels for a bit so fitted these to the back to prevent parking shunts.(Picture below)
Gave the car back to the wife and forgot to remove them for the MOT.
MB Winch came out to see her while she was waiting and said they wont pass with those on (Fair enough, should have removed them beforehand)
But when the MOT is done there is a bloody advisory saying sharp objects on bodywork.... now there either or isnt any sharp edge MB make your mind up...
I was going to go and ask them why they thought it necessary to write that on file when clearly they/MB removed them for my wife!!
Advise??

Really? Another one of these threads? It's an advisory, suck it up and get on with your life. It's not the end of the world.
If anyone ever questions it when you come to sell the car (which is extremely unlikely to happen) you can show them that picture and explain exactly what you said above.

Lawyer up - get them preparing a case demanding not only that this horrific advisory be struck from all records but that you're also financially compensated for the trauma that this incident has caused.
Either that or peel off that st sticker and get on with life.

Oh, you're one of those, are you?"If you're not going to tell me what I want to hear, go away..."
Look, it's very simple. You presented a car for MOT with sharp objects on the bodywork. Rather than fail it, the tester advised you, and you removed them there and then. This is how it should work. Satnav, cuddly dice, other "hilarious" tat blocking the screen? Point it out, let the owner remove it. Or leave it in, fail it, and get sworn at. If the tester removed it himself, you can bet there'd be complaints about damage and the rest...
He repeated that advice on the certificate, so you wouldn't be such a fkwit again in the future. Unfortunately, his fkwittery-prevention only extends as far as an hour a year, and he knows damn well that you're going to put them straight back on. With that in mind, covering his arse by saying "Look, I warned the muppet about the stupid fking things" in the only way possible seems like a very wise move.

I'd say the advisory is wrong. But when the MOT is done there is a bloody advisory saying sharp objects on bodywork.... now there either or isnt any sharp edge MB make your mind up...
They ought to have failed it, removed them, and then passed it on the retest.

Do you have to drill the bumper to fit those, or do they just stick on? If someone does still give you a decent nudge is it not more likely to crack your bumper?
no - they are machined threads the same as the towing eye, just on the smart there are 2, they had a small black protective cap you flick off, people think these are parking sensors! cause you really need them on a smart lolSounds like Pass with Rectification at Station.

What has he given against the advisory as the reason - any numbers & letters?
