1987 Metro 1.3 van, probably sub 15 seconds.

It weighed about the same as an empty shoebox, handled nicely and was a proper fun little thing to pedal along.

Vauxhall Nova Flair.

15.7 seconds to 60 officially, but I reckon the addition of the SR spoiler will have improved that significantly.

10.2, mk4 Escort 1.6 cvh carb and that felt like a rocket ship after the 12v Corsa I learnt in. That lasted about three weeks before I cooked the head gasket and replaced it with a mk3 Granada 2.0i dohc (loved that car!) which was also 10.2, oddly though, the Granada felt A LOT quicker than the Escort.

My first car was a Cinquecento SX, 899cc and 41bhp. I doubt it would ever get to 60mph, certainly not with 4x 6th Form rugbyists ensconced (which is how I drove more or less everywhere in those days)..I miss the slow lil *****

About 11 secs; 1976 Opel Manta 1.9 Berlinetta. Bodywork was fully customised incl. wide arches, metalflake paint, wolfrace wheels and loads of Irmscher goodies but the engine was stock so a real sheep in wolf's clothing.

17seconds in a mk2 Fiesta 1.0L with a mighty 45hp.

Not quick in the slightest, however living in a rural area with lots of narrow windy lanes meant learning to carry speed & read the road to go fast an overtake people on the short straights.

Apparently 14.9 seconds and a top speed of 88mph which I think was better than the car that followed it.
It had 59bhp (when new) and only weighed about 850kg, although the rust induced weight loss possibly helped counteract the power loss.

I give you the Renault 14 in 1.2 flavour biggrinhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renault_14

One does not believe the 1985(C) Ford Fiesta Popular Plus could attain speeds of 60mph.
Oh yes it could, my B reg one could get above an indicated 70 downhill and foot to the floor in top gear (4th) it got very floaty in there on those 135 tyres though biggrin

Carb fed meant no rev limiter and I think I may even have stretched out second to 56 mph once... you know your car is st when it needs three gears to hit 60 smile

My first car wouldn't do 60!!

1947 Ford 10, never saw more than 55.
You weren't trying, Wikipedia gives the top speed as 61 smile I can't confirm this as the speedo on my similar 1954 model never worked wink

Ah my first car was a battered MK2 Golf Ryder with a 54bhp 1.3 8v engine and a 4 speed box. 0-60 in 16.5secs (apparently) and on to a whopping 94mph. Thrash it in any gear and you'd have a coolant explosion in the engine bay. Loved my first car (don't we all?!), cost me £700 and spent £1400 putting subs/speakers in it. got rid when it failed an MOT for 'having a wheel fitted to the vehicle which is of a larger size than the other three wheels'.... Yeah, don't ask...

13.3 seconds. Lancia Delta 1.3LX.
But with turbo wheels/side skirts and twin headlamps I got it down to 6.4 seconds.

I had a 1.3 Mk5 (2001) Ford Fiesta Flight as my first car.

Which is funny, as the only way it would achieve flight, albeit briefly, was off a cliff.

15.9s 0-60, 59bhp.

Cinquecento Sporting 1.1 with 55bhp. O-60 was 13.8 officially but it felt very strong in 1st and 2nd off the line caning it to 6,000rpm up to about 45mph......so it felt like you had a decently quick machine even if in reality it wasnt. but thats to miss the point. great city car.

A rocket-like 18.4seconds for my 1975 Mini 1000, I replaced it with a 1968 VW Beetle 1200 which took a glacial 32.1 seconds.
I had the sportier and flashier version, 1303s 22.5 secs of arse out fun.
I bet my 1200 was even more "arse out", I had crossply tyres and swing axle suspension!
