I have never bought a car like this an don't see it happening any time soon. But I wonder do people go in an spec 15 to 20k of options and then actually pay that for them.

In fact bar Ferrari (an I am not certain it still holds true) do any firms refuse to of6fer any form of discount. After all Would a sales person let you walk out the door an not drop 61k on a car for the sake of not throwing in say this lot £900 for head-up display, £550 for black styling package, £250 for pre sense rear, £1,250 for Driver Assistance pack.

Not saying you get it all for free but would you actually pay the extra circa £2800 for that lot or would in fact it just end up being an extra £1000 etc.

I would genuinely like to know from someone who has bought a car like this what did you actually pay for the options?

Typically you will get a discount if you take the PCP , on my RS6 it was about 11% on the retail price...cash buyers dont seem to get the same discounts at all... indeed most salesmen are quite suprised if you say you're a cash buyer these days

Well, i got 14% off my RS6 and it was a £100k+ with options.

You may struggle to get loads off a brand new RS5, but i wouldn't be paying list. You can get huge discounts on BMW M models (At one point it was cheaper to lease an M6 than an M4), so i'd expect Audi to get close.

Many thanks chaps so it would seem a fair assumption that no one has paid 81k for that spec of RS5 71k sounds about right with all thoes extra toys.

I prefer it when firms do trim specs like say jeep (we have one) limited overland summit etc all basically the same but with more options (included in the price) however i get that for a top end car you might want to personalise it also audi are in it to make money so of course it makes sense to charge. I looked at a new rr sport in last month an options wise i added about 3k to base price or say 5% to add 33% as per the audi seems a bit ott

I think Porsche are difficult to get any significant discount out of from what I have heard

Wow. 80k = disappointment.

Expensive pill to swallow, that.
It would be but it's not as the car is £61k before discount.

Love the colour, but the privacy glass and wheels don't do it any favours, IMO..

The wheels have a "directional" design, but the actual wheels are identical offside and rearside, so one side will always look "wrong"!

Never knew I had OCD before...

In the early 80s a neigbour bought a new XR3i (mk4 I think) and it had directional wheels (see below). Looked awful on one side. That was my first experience of 'directionals' and set me on a course of forever after being obsessive about wheel design !

Depends on the brand and availability/desirability of the particular model and your haggling skills. Dealer has to pay for the options, in the same way they pay for the basic car and a set of 'free' car mats. Actually paying list price for an Audi must be very rare (R8's aside). 10%-20% discount PLUS a manufacturer "deposit contribution" if you take out PCP is pretty typical....

I'd forgotten about those!

I can't unsee this now, though. Nearside looks right, offside looks ...err.. off!

The familiar Audi "Rotor" style is similarly borked but it's a lot more subtle.

At about 80k with all those options I would rather have a proper GT and get the new Lexus LC.

Damn, you beat me to it!

Clearly more involved than flicking a switch at the factory or plugging in a laptop at the dealer

From memory AMG charge similar but throw in some coaching on a track, do Audi????

The Lexus looks stunning as well, the want is strong for that car.
