It really has one of the most distinctive, best-looking front-ends ever. Such a lovely thing.
Agreed.

Drove one and made a little write up with some pics:

I can confirm this is a lovely car, having been out for a passenger ride a while back. Love it!

Thanks, all, for all the incredibly kind positive comments. I am, of course, biased, but I happen to agree with them all! Still lovely to read, nevertheless.

Was the original owner's haulage company Firmin Transport by any chance?
It wasn't, no! I'll refrain from mentioning the company's name as it was also hers, but no, it wasn't Firmin!

Does anyone have any idea of the value of these now? The ones in the classified are all 635i and are £10k+
Sounds about right to me, based on my musings.

Sorry, that's a pet hate of mine. You have a lovely car!
You are absolutely correct, of course - my apologies. I'll give myself a stern talking to later on!

It's took 3yrs to write that and tease it?!? Come on man!

Where the pics from Napoleon, less tease and more action please wink

Oh and I cannot believe it's been 5yrs since the MR2!!!
Nothing like taking time to come to a constructive verdict! wink I'll do a longer post on the Route Napoleon trip in a future update, if people would like to read about it. And yes, five years. Oddly, I do miss that car. It was fun while it lasted. Amazingly, someone's fixed it up and put it back on the road - I checked the MOT history the other day and it's been MOT'd recently!

My grandfather had a 633 when I was a kid - always loved the E24 shape.

That's a strange one, MOT ran out 2009, tax 2012?!

It was pretty unreliable in the 18 months/60k miles; it had two ECU's and a gearbox from memory. Cost £33k new in 1986, I remember it seemed an utter fortune! That's a top spec Golf these days!
Given that £33k in 1986 is equivalent to just under £90k these days I would argue that it was an utter fortune!

Wonderful car.

Ditto. I've wanted one ever since Bruce Willis had a 633CSi in Moonlighting (showing my age there).
It's along time ago that I watched Moonlighting, but wasn't the BMW Cybill Shepard's?

The South African Consulate had one with a boot full of Krugerrands in Leathal Weopan 2. Fantastic looking car.

That would make sense, as she was the one with the money IIRC. Bruce Willis probably borrowed it and crashed it.

It definitely sounds more natural!

I do love OP's car. I think it's envy that drove me to point that one out!

You 635 is beautiful.

I love these things, and this (along with the E30) has been the definitive of a BMW shape for me.

One of the meanest front ends ever fitted to a BMW.

I have a 1989 Highline in Royal Blue and Silver Grey Leather. I think it has the same 17" BBS split rims like your ones.

Now is the time to grab a clean one - they are only going up in price.

It has a look that screams 1980's for all the right reasons. The kind of car that would probably make you feel like Jordan Belfort or Bud Fox biggrin

Your car looks fantastic OP. thumbup (Mind you so does "notanotherturbo's")!

Definitely one of the best looking BMWs ever.

Now look what you've done - something else for the wish list. laugh

I remember back in the 80s an ex-schoolmate of mine turning up at my Mum's in a 635CSi to take us to a local pub or two (well he was always a bit flash)! The black lines he laid on the road when he left lasted for months.

Looking forward to reading any updates!

Changed registration plates? That can often confuse the DVLA's MOT checker doodah.

IMO, BMW's design pretty much peaked with this car. I'm not a big fan of the current bloated look and huge kidney grilles plastered across the front. I had M635CSi posters next to my Quattro ones back in the day biggrin
