I'd still love to know who would buy one over say, an S3, which is a mere £3k more.
2. It handles rather better than the Audi (as a car type; I cannot comment on the hot versions of both)

3. Its interior is just as nice as the Audi - and a lot less infuriating to use (apart from the infotainment; Audi is light years ahead)
It won't handle better than a 4WD S3, sorry, and if you think that the interior is as nice as that of an S3, then you're on another planet.
Sorry but the S3 is pretty st to drive. The 308 will be a lot more engaging as a driver's car.

Ive not seen any 270's for sale at a Peugeot dealer for less than 18k (give or take 100 quid), 250's can be had for 15-16k, my dealer offered me a trade in on my RCZ R for a GTi 250, 15.5k for mine, 18900 for the new (70 miles on the clock) 250. I said no, im keeping the R, its just such a fun car and looks damned good.

Cheapest 270 out there at the moment is 17k on a 16 plate at a Honda dealer, 1 year old, 3 owners.... its either a bargain or a cat C/D, amd even if you take it as a pre reg, thats still 2 owners in a year.
19k gets you an 8k 66 plate, thats pretty good value considering it cost me 16k for a 306 GTi-6 with 9k on the clock back in 1997 redface
It was a main Peugeot dealer down south and it was 16,995 for a 270 with only 10k miles and pug history, it was the sales managers demo . Defo wasn't cat c or d car , it's sold now as I just looked on the auto trader and just checking my emails it was regal motors in bilston

It amazes me how they manage to get that sort of power and torque from a 1.6T and although co2 doesnt affect your car tax like it used to its still very low given what it is

I do think they are a very overlooked hatchback given the weight compared to rivals and power...the price though is too much

I understand depreciation, pre reg, discounts etc (Im in the car trade myself) but £30k even with lots of discounts said in previous posts to say £24k is still alot

By comparison, and I can only go on what I sell. A Corsa VXR Retail is about £20,000 and I can knock them out for £15,500. Not as fast, not as special in many ways Im sure but its half the price and brand new

Still, we run a Pug 270bhp version here as a demo so having read the write up Im gonna take one for a spin now and see what I think

No it isn't, you just said that you could get a Peugeot for 24k, are you selling VXRs for 12k? If so PM me your details, I'll take one.

I test-drove one about a year ago and didn't like it.
What drew me to it was the understated looks, five-door practicality and the possibility of having 'normal' seats.
I didn't like the front seat headrests - being quite tall I found the protruding lower part of the headrest dug into the back of my neck or top of my shoulders.
I didn't like everything on touch screen - it's nice to have a few dials for commonly-used things rather than have to poke a screen, especially with big fat sausage fingers like mine.
I was disappointed by the engine during normal town driving where it seemed horribly unresponsive at lower rpms even in the low gears such as when crawling along in a slow queue at 5-20mph in 1st and 2nd; moderate accelerator pressure to take a gap on a busy roundabout resulted in no response for a few seconds and getting honked at because I'd cut someone up due to the long lag between throttle and engine response.
I'm guessing the lag is a combination of big turbo stifling a small engine and the designers trying to pretend the car can also be really economical by limiting fuelling and/or throttle response at low speeds/low rpms.

It had the fast, agile and understated bit well covered but not the everyday driveability and practicality.
