Thinking of selling up, only three months after purchase, much to the disgust of my better half. Would lose 1400 if I sold to WBAC, 700 if I sold to the best trade offer I have received, and 300-500 if I managed to sell privately at the price I'd expect.

Anyone kept a car for less time, or lost considerably more in a short time?

As I have pointed out, is there any difference to losing 400 after three months than losing 1600 if I sold after a year?

Having gone from a 1.9 Gti to a Cavalier 4x4 Gsi I decided the Cav needed at least another 150 bhp to make it exciting and so, bitterly disappointed, I exchanged it for a Golf Vr6 after 2 weeks. Sadly.....

Two of 3 and a bit months each last year.

1 series coupe bought in March.

3 series saloon (non-idrive) bought June (part-ex'd 1 series).

3 series touring (idrive, LCI, lots of options) bought October (part-ex'd saloon).

Wasnt the cheapest seeing as all were BMW AUC but I eventually got the car I probably always should have bought hehe

Bought a SAAB 9-3 turbo as a stop-gap a couple of years ago. Kept it for nearly a month before passing it on to my nephew as a birthday present. It's still going strong now. cool

1 week.

I bought a 350Z ,it wasn't as quick as a mate's Focus ST ,so the dealer took it back and paid me extra for the humiliation.

None of this actually happened, it was all in a dream.....whistle

Sold a BMW 3 series after 9 weeks - absolutely hated everything about it - especially the driving position.

10 days.
Bought a Volvo 340 for £250. The gearbox disintegrated while changing from 3rd to 4th, so I parked it up and called a scrappy to come and pick it up.

76 miles.
911 Carrera 3.2
Drove it home and (some time later) drove it back to the dealer.
Lost money but regained my sanity.

My serious answer....biggrin

Bought a 1976 Mini Clubman for about 25 pounds ,messed about with it ,sold 3-4 weeks later.

And a 1982 Colt Lancer turbo ,was traded in where I worked ,sales manager wanted 75 pounds for it ,as it had a few issues.

Replaced the exhaust and did some other jobs on it and sold it 4 weeks later for about 500 ,should've asked way more though.

About 6 months for me.

It was a 2006 Saab 9-3 diesel which I bought for £1,200 and sold for £1,400. It was actually a really good car, comfortable, economical and well spec'd. I actually only sold it as I decided on a higher budget and opted for another Merc. My W211 E320 is a much better car overall but that's the only reason I sold so quickly.

3 days - Audi 80 2.6 Quattro Avant, bought unseen from Glasgow - flew up to collect it, drove it back to Telford. Next day the crank sensor went, fell out of love with it, stuck it on Ebay, sold the following day and day after new owner came to collect it and drove it back - to Glasgow

8 weeks.

It was an Alfa GTV Twinspark. I'd wanted one for ages but just didn't get on with it.

I still wince when I think of how much I lost on it too...
