I score very low points in this category.... my Dad doesn't have a license, never has so only my Mum drove in our house growing up and as she hates driving and doesn't like big cars, her entire car history from test pass in 1968 to current is:

early Mini
1974 Mk1 Escort 1.1
1977 Austin Allegro (bought in 1983)
1981 Ford Escort Mk3 1.1 Popular (bought in 1986)
1985 Ford Escort Mk3 1.3L (bought in 1992)
1990 Vauxhall Nova 1.2Merit (bought in 1999)
1996 Peugeot 106 1.1 (bought in 2001)
1999 Citroen Saxo 1.1 Forte (bought in 2003)
2011 Nissan Micra Tekna (bought in 2014)

The last few are cars that I purchased for her as she didn't really have the budget to change vehicles but needed to!
Hopefully the Micra will last her until she stops driving

A series of 3dr mk1 and mk2 Escorts.
The parents say 3dr was considered safer as the young ones couldn't fall out the back.

Then 5dr mk3/4/5 escorts all with the horrible cvh engine.
The last one I had to borrow was the mk5 with the 1.4 - the one that got hugely slated in the motoring media.
After that I had my own wheels. cool

Dad was a car dealer in the seventies and usually drove something "exotic", e-types, yanks, Jensen's etc. Memories of some stuff that would be eye wateringly expensive now but not back then.
What does stand out is that he had the plate "DAV 1D" usually on one of the cars that he kept for a while. A few years ago I asked what happened to the plate. He never owned it, just got one made up and stuck it on various cars. Was never pulled for it!!!

You know the TG book by our own Mr Porter "My dad had one of those"?

Well, my dad had one of those. Mk 3 Cortina estate in white. I remember one year going down to the New Forest for a family wedding, so this could pretty much have been us. If it weren't a modern re-creation anyway. Although dad's car had silver hub caps. Great cars for days out, picnics etc

When I was born my parents had a 1275GT Mini. They had if until I was 3. I've seen photos of the car loaded with pram, luggage and stuff for a two week self catering holiday!

Quite an eclectic collection.

He learnt to drive fairly late in his early 30s. I guess that was because he lived in London.

His first car was a new Farina Austin Cambridge.

Also before I was born he was into Austin or Morris Farina Countryman estates.

For some reason he then got an Austin 1100 then a 1300.

When I was born -1970 - he had a Vanden Plas Princess.

Then:

VW Variant.
DAF 66
Suntor Marina camper
Suntor Marina camper
FIAT 128
Chrysler Avenger
Chrysler Horizon GLS
BMW 316 E30
Volvo 360 GLT
Volvo 360 GLT
Volvo 440 Turbo
Volvo 740 GL
Rover 214 SEI. - nice little car on retirement. He missed Volvos so:
Volvo 940 Turbo
Volvo V40 SE - it wasn't fast enough so:
Volvo V40 T4

Then he died.

Vauxhall Viva HC 1600
Austin 1300
Mk1 Escort Van
Renault 18 GTS

All of which were crap but now worth way more than they got scrapped for. In fact now worth way more than they were bought for too.

Excellent posts on here. I think my parents is a celebration in misery too!

Dad:
Some sort of Honda YT type Motorbike - before I was born and I'm not very clued up on them.
Suffx Y ford Sierra 1.6L (leaked and was generally terrible, but how much would a mint condition Sierra like that be worth now!)
Yellow G Reg Ford Sierra 1.6L - Destroyed in a firebomb attack when Dad went to the garage to get a new front light, after having a minor bump.
G Reg Mazda 626 estate - Electric Windows and 7 Seats, luxury!
T Reg Ford KA - 250,000 miles and ten years later it got chopped into via the scrappage scheme for a...
59 Reg Ford KA - Seems to be going OK, stratospheric mileage on it again.

Mum:
A Simca of some sort - Not a clue what it was as it was before me, and I don't think mum knew either.
Mk1 Fiesta - Terrible and leaked.
1 car in the household for a few years, up to that Mazda previously.
Vauxhall Belmont - Overheated for fun
Skoda Favorit - a Red Estate. No 3rd gear for most of the time mum had it and a dipstick that was my sisters silly straw (remember them?).
L Reg - Rover 214 Si. the boxy wedge things. Actually not a bad car considered. She got rid of it when I was 16 and, for all it being a Rover, would have been cheap to learn to drive in. The K Series in it was quick enough for what it was.
04 plate Honda Civic SE - bought in 2006 and still has it 11 years later. Mechanically it is perfect. Uses no oil, has needed nothing major replacing and just keeps on going. Interior is still very good, although some of the surfaces have worn away. Bodywork is very good, apart from the scrapes incurred when a truck tried to get in mums' way.
