Put up a "Smile bikers your on camera!" Sign

They will pick somewhere else.
Too right; us bikers hate grammatical errors... wink
hehe

I'm not even going to pretend I was typing in a rush.

I would definitely use the social media, that adds pressure to the Police to do something, same for the local council.
I'd also try flagging them down and asking them nicely, but I'd keep some back up in the background as I'm doing it in case it turns ugly - making sure they outnumber the bikers and know how to handle themselves - I train with bouncers so I'd call them in, but only to defend as a last resort. I'd have the whole thing filmed as well. The thing I've learned from the bouncers I train with is always start with the polite approach, 9 times out of 10 it works. Always be legitimate in front of a camera.

These bikers are probably just thinking of the fun they're having. Years ago someone told me I was driving too fast in his neighbourhood and explained he was worried about his kids getting run over. I was so embarrassed, never even thought, I was young and enjoying driving fast. A word was all it took.
Hope you get it sorted.

Social media or move to a cul-de-sac..... which is what we had to do in the end.

I remember discussing our problems with a local councillor at the time, and the "resources stretched" / "cut backs" excuses didn't take long to trot out. His response was that "you can't legislate against idiots" and mine was that "you don't need to if you enforce existing legislation".

the noise that a sports bike can make when the throttle is wide open can be something else. i estimate that i am 100-200m (at least) from the main road but at this time of year with dry conditions it can sometimes sound like a racetrack is outside, this is often quite late at night where I suspect its one or two bikers looping a small circuit.

the practical reality is that if someone buys a special bit of kit, be it a car or a bike, they are going to give it some beans from time to time.

perhaps some sort of restrictions on the aftermarket cans would be reasonable as it doesn't stop anyone enjoying their bike/car but will keep noise down a lot. i presume nothing will ever happen as this is a decades old issue.

i feel for the people who have this going on regularly outside of their homes.

There already is I believe. Most aftermarket exhausts I have seen do not have the relevant E markings. Mine included. A lack of traf pol mean it's rarely enforced I think

Percentage of sports bike owners who don't fit an after-market exhaust on it: 0.00000047%
Percentage of sports bike owners with after-market exhausts who genuinely believe they sound good: 99.999934%
Percentage chance of convincing them their tedious Japanese IL4 bike sounds f*cking sh*t, no-matter how loud it is: 0%

So you are effectively admitting that you drive with an 'illegal' aftermarket can, knowing that you exceed the legal noise limits.
Depending on much you throttle you are using, you annoy everyone in the immediate vicinity right up to those sitting at home a few hundred metres away.

Hit the nail on the head.

Time and a place however. Residential streets are not one of them. Tunnels, duals and b roads however...

I have just emailed the Police again as they didn't get back to me after the last call ten days ago.
I have said if nothing gets done don't be surprised if us residents don't take this matter into our own hands as you are not helping at all. (All along those lines)
I await their ste reply.

They might suggest that you go for counselling for your aggression and intolerance.

I don't think I'd be as angry if I didn't have to move my son's room. He's only 7months so sleeping is tough enough as it is.

I've been in exactly the same position, so have a lot of sympathy.

Call 999 each evening that it happens. It's a nuisance, it's dangerous and its illegal.

I did tend to call 101 but you're on hold for about 30+mins before someone answers to simply "make a note of this" so I email now

I get why people lay traps on the road now, and I'm a biker. Not good.
When I see bikers riding like total d13ks its interesting when I tell them that they are, then tell them I'm a biker too. It's like they were expecting compliments or something.

Neighbourhood watch is needed here, either establish or join an existing one.
