As long as a car interior doesn't dazzle me, hurt me or rattle badly, I'm happy with it. It's the one thing in a car that leaves me pretty indifferent.

The only exception is the writing in most Ford interiors from the 1990s until the last generation. I really don't like the dials and labelling for controls, and I don't know why

I think Vauxhall need to do a VW with this and do a lease deal that replicates what they did with the Golf R, ie really cheap way of getting a lot of performance for the money.

Will be a way of getting people back into the brand. The problem with Vauxhall is that they have served very good porridge over the years. Getting better and better and one of the best breakfast dishes. But it's still porridge where as the other manufactures did bacon and eggs with a beer to wash it down with.

It might have been better to say kipper. Vauxhall have been slipping us a kipper for several years, can this be the proper good old fashioned British dish?

Er, French.

Garbage cars primarily owned by tramps and wastrels, I'd rather st in my hands and then clap than own a modern Vauxhall.
Thanks for your contribution to the thread.
I love it when people make these big statements but they drive something really quite st. The FN2 is pretty crap - probably the worst Type R ever made.

But I love that our friend feels he can talk about Vauxhalls with such knowledge.
Spotted that earlier, completely stupid comment.
My ladyfriend, who is neither a tramp (well, maybe a little bit) or a wastrel, owns a 'modern' Vauxhall. It performs no worse/the same as a Hyundai hire car I had in Spain. Suspension just OK, interior passable but nowhere near as solid as a German and a perky but weak engine that would cruise at 50 in 6 on the motorway but would only go up a decent incline in first screaming in protest. In short, pretty st. Vauxhall will have to pull their thumbs out to properly re-introduce the GSi, which in reality, all those years ago, was really no better than the competition.
I'd take that back. Even the bog standard Corsa courtesy car I had the other week with a 5 speed box performed much better than your description. It was also surprisingly well equipped with a nice quality interior.
Quality is obviously subjective, but really "nice quality interior" compared to what? Something agricultural? The interior is no different to countless other Euroboxes out there, and I wonder what you're comparing the drive to! Please, no long list of cars you've driven/fantasise you've driven in a reply, I'm happy to accept your opinion differs from mine!
I couldn't give a monkeys about corsas. In fact I detest them. I'm merely pointing out that the brand new 5 speed car I had on loan was, as you say, comparable to any other eurobox out there and these days they're all pretty good for what they are. Even the most basic modern car is capable of cruising on or above the speed limit.

That's fair enough, you are entitled to your view.

My last five cars have been new Vauxhalls, (Not company cars) and all have been faultless other than one which had a faulty alternator which was replaced under warranty, even though it was two months out of it.

The dealers have been first class too.

I fancy one of these new Insignias next year.
My mum had a new Corsa 2014 plate. The interior fell to bits after a few months and the dealer didn't want to know - they were really poor. I won't name and shame because it's frowned up by some. She sold it and got a 2014 Focus - she's much happier with it and it hasn't fallen to bits. Still looks like new.

The only thing that puts me off it is that they've stuck with a 4 pot.
I know they can get decent power from them, but I'd much rather have a V6 soundtrack to go with it
yes

I'd love to see a V6T powered range-topper, so if there is room for a VXR to go above the GSi it gives them an opportunity. I know the 4-pot gives better economy blah blah, but 250/260 bhp is the same as the old non-VXR V6T models made (Vectra and Insignia). If they've dropped 250kg then 330bhp would be rather nice.

Does appear to be a decent steer though smile

What we need is remote mountain circuit somewhere like Wales where the Ford and Holden (sorry) Vauxhall fans can drink many beers while watching their favourite brands battle it out and if they don't get the results they want battle it out between themselves. Then they can regroup and attack the VW fans...

What is VXR supposed to mean in Australia? It should be a HSV.

This must be the most PH comment ever smile

The VXR Commodore is a naturally aspirated V6 with 235 kW and 381 Nm. Same as the Buick Regal GS.

I think it will be called Commodore HSV.

However the old Insignia was called Holden Insignia VXR in Australia after it got Holden badging. Before that it was badged Opel

HSV is no more after this year, it is getting called the VXR instead of the SS.

I've had exactly the same issue with my 2015 5 series and the same response from the dealers, it's not just a Vauxhall problem.

No idea why they would do that considering GM are keeping Holden while selling Vauxhall/Opel so VXR will have no relevance whatsoever.

Nice looking thing, the new Insignia. It's rather reminiscent of the new A5 Sportback and that is not a bad thing at all. The have more or less the same wheelbase so this makes for an interesting comparison:
