Wow. That's a right nail!

One wonders at their motive...

Pissed off employee "accidentally" putting up the pre-prep photos, just out of malice?

Nail taken in part-ex that they don't want to waste time/money on, showing it in rag order perhaps a way of indemnifying themselves against any SOGA-type claims by the eventual buyer? (i.e. "At the time of purchase one could plainly see the vehicle in question was a complete heap, yer'onner...")

Evans Halshaw is poor. I was looking at a Civic I was tempted to buy from them, but when I arrived, one door mirror was cracked. Refused to repair it or to knock anything off the price.

So did they fit the wheel nuts to pass the MOT and then remove them again? because there's still missing nuts in the photos

The previous owner has done an amazing job of kerbing the entire rim of every wheel!

I understand the desire to get it advertised as quickly as possible, but it seems senseless not to wait far the valeters and smart repair guys to wave their magic before taking the photos.

Photo's must be pre-MOT (you'd seriously hope)

In any case, it's going to need and probably won't get serious money chucked at it to put it right.

Full Service
4 new alloy wheels
New tyre (s)
Full geo set up
Front brake discs/pads
Dent repaired

Once the car loses it's cherished plate someone will be stuck a lemon with a marginally better looking ragged car.

We always do this, as soon as a car arrives some 'temporary' photos are taken and the car advertised.
Unfortunately, cars do not arrive pre -prepped for sale.....
If you held on to all your stock before advertising it, you would have a field full of cars just sitting there awaiting prep.
Have you ever tried to book a car into a body shop, it can take weeks and weeks before a slot is available.
There is no point valeting the car until it has been thru body shop and or smart repairers or for that matter workshop, because invariably you will just end up paying for it to be done again.
However, the temporary photos we would take would just be 3 or 4 outside shots, not full interior or close up shots, this does seem to be shooting yourself in the foot.
Once the car has been fully prepped, then and only then, are full proper photos taken again.
You simply cannot prep cars immediately, there is always a massive quewe in a busy dealership, all the time these cars are depreciating month on month.
You just have to get them prepped as soon as possible but at the same time have them advertised.
Remember, it wasn't the dealer that mashed the car up, the previous owner was responsible for that...
All the dealer can do is prep the car to the best of his ability, as quickly as possible, not always that easily done though...

Some dealers put the advert up immediately but rather than putting up bad photos they just say "awaiting preparation" until the prep work is done.

That makes more sense to me than putting up bad photos.

I think the behaviour you are describing above shows a very poor attitude towards your customers. Most serious customers will look at the condition of this example and walk or browse straight past it, they will also remember the crap looking one so I fail to see the value in showing cars in this condition.

They had a B-Max that I had occasion to look at recently which was in a similar condition to that Clio but even worse inside. I couldn't believe that a major retailer was inviting anyone to see it for sale in the state it was in.

Shocking.

My God those wheels.

Pretty standard from that chain of dealerships though. I was looking at a Megane once and the interior pictures were an Astra.

I think they could have taken photos from far enough away and from selective angles to show the car but mask the damage well enough to allow the car to be advertised for sale prior to the repairs being carried out.

The photos they have used just make it seem like they are not bothered. It's hard to imagine anyone looking at the photos thinking, Yeah, that's the car for me

I can only assume they paid so little for it they know they'll make good money on it. Plus they probably know that the condition doesn't bother a lot of their clientele? I know a few people that would say that Clio is in good condition for 3 years old.....
