Screams Motability return to me.
Although perhaps an unorthodox choice, and unsure if you can put a (frankly dire in this case) personal plate on one?
4 owners and the Clio 200 isn't on the scheme anyway. Although perhaps an unorthodox choice, and unsure if you can put a (frankly dire in this case) personal plate on one?
You can put a private plate on a Motability car.

Is it "low ball money" though?
A main dealer tried dodging their obligations to me after a fault appeared at 5 weeks telling me upto the aftemarket warrant company.
They wilted after I kept up the pressure and agreed to a full fix "as a Goodwill gesture" at day 13 of my 14 day letter.
So please. No. They won't destroy anything
Maybe you are not their target buyer just praying on the relatively unknowledgeable mass unwashed... A main dealer tried dodging their obligations to me after a fault appeared at 5 weeks telling me upto the aftemarket warrant company.

There really isn't any meaningful profit margin in priced to sell sub £7k cars... and let's be fair most ph buyers define a nightmare.
Ive heard many dealer say that sales are all about being the cheapest in order to bag the sale
If the buying public only go for the cheapest cars then they are partly responsible for the lack of prep.
Dealers pay VAT on the gross margin too so any prep work is straight off the profit - another incentive to keep costs to a minimum I guess.

Recently helped my grandparents buy a trade in from an EH main dealer (vauxhall) and was really shocked at the whole place. Unfortunately they were desperately after a rare car that their local EH happened to have so I didn't have much choice. I phoned to make an appointment to see it, we got there on time and had to wait about 25 mins while they tried to find the car, including the salesman walking my elderly/disabled grandparents all around the lot in vain - the car was in the service centre.
Apparently it was a 'runaround' so 30 day guarantee given and nothing more. No prep would be done and it was sold as seen. I noticed the bottoms of the N/S doors were slightly corroded, however a repair was refused. In the end all I could get them to agree to was for us to pay them to repair it at cost price - on top of buying the car. When I challenged them about SoG act and 90 day guarantees they said it didn't apply, however tried to sell a years extended warranty (with a £500 claim limit) for about £325. Later spotted that the paperwork said 'trade sale' - all a bit naughty.
On top of that we were charged a £99 admin fee for them to sell us the car. I tried my damnest but couldn't haggle it off so ended up paying it. Again, if it the circumstances were different I would have run a mile, however the car was in great condition and fairly cheap (apart from the doors).

A couple of days later he came back in to complain it was leaking water into the footwell, indeed it was, it was soaked and windows steaming up.
"Im sure we can sort that for you" I said and wandered off to find sales manager. The SM told me it didn't affect the way the car ran so it wasnt covered under the 30 day warranty and to send him on his way.
Poor old fella was gutted. It was about that time I decided I didn't want to be a part of that place any longer.
I went over to a dealer in kent with some very high end cars on its 'forecourt'. (turned out to be more of a packed yard on pkey etstate). All of them looked like they had been treated like utter st. Mercedes GTs covered in dirt, R8s covered in dust and the Maserati I went to look at not even there! Then the other Maser he tried to show me had a Mc Donalds cup in the back seat!!!
I'd made up my mind that I couldn't even consider buying from the moment I walked in, but came away thinking standards have slipped dramatically, especially when you consider they must of had stock worth £1-2m. Just thought they must only cater for the less disconcerting (promising) talented footballer, where only the badge matters.
