RE: Range Rover Velar: Review

I have now owned my D300 First Edition Velar for a week - bloody fantastic car and I have come out of a Range Rover Sport and have driven a FFRR many times when my RRS was at the dealership for warranty or service work. The D300 Velar on air suspension is the pick of the bunch. In First Edition trim the interior fit and finish is magnificent and makes the FFRR Autobiography look boring! The car drives very well especially in Dynamic mode it hugs corners very well.
The infotainment system is super quick and is a major wow factor of the car with those dual screens.
This is the one to have - currently the best RR available IMHO of course.
Those calling it a bigger Evoque or another F-Pace need to seriously go drive one and you will see it is far from it! I own an Evoque too and they cannot be compared!
Glad you like it!The infotainment system is super quick and is a major wow factor of the car with those dual screens.

My only criticism of Velar is the little cup holder/cover to the left of the gear selector which doesn't "feel right" in my humble opinion.
Other than that I couldn't fault it.
Tell me, did you get the laser headlamps?
I'd love to know how they perform in the real world.

Thanks PrancingHorses for the concise review from a real owner, unless you're just `renting` in which case it doesn't count apparently The infotainment system is super quick and is a major wow factor of the car with those dual screens.

I did read up on some of the specs but had not realised Air Suspension was not standard! I really hate having to research these sort of details online because there are no brochures these days.
I suspect a couple of these will be appearing on our senior managements driveways very soon. We are having one for a few days in early September on extended test drive.
We currently have a Macan that goes back in January & although the F Pace ran it a close second, according to its driver, the Macan is so much nicer inside........ I'm sure some will say he`s wrong & that 42k of ownership (renting) is in no way an entitlement to comment.
FWIW I loathe the Ewok for the simple reason I cannot get comfortable in it & it looks sort of wrong as a 5 door. It was only a loaner when our still unreliable newly re engine RRS was once again residing with the dealer, so I guess my thoughts are entirely incorrect/irrelevant for some here too!!

Although the danger there is that you may be reading a vast amount of self-affirmation. Single marque forums are never a great idea to find out if people like them but the technical sections of said forums are usually a good way of finding out whether they're irritating or not Already a wealth of owner reviews and info on there

Lease, not rent. Unless you have a chip on your shoulder about finance ;-)
And what substance is missing for it's target market?
When you say chip ...... imagine a world with nothing but potato fields, Mccain's factories and Harry Ramsden's and you'll have an insight in Granfondo's view. And what substance is missing for it's target market?

I think it was you who came wading into this thread with your insults!
Hardly an insult but sorry if it ruffled you. Funnily enough I thought you might take it in the same spirit you've been dishing stuff out but no you reverted to type culminating in searching for other threads you could put the boot into when somebody uses the same sort of sweeping cliches about your choice of vehicle that you've been liberally sprinkling about.Edited by anonymous-user on Thursday 3rd August 16:53

P.S. Was my sweeping generalisation about the majority of Velar being "rented" possibly right?

The interior is fantastic and it has showroom appeal in spades and your right about it being the pick of the range unless you need the towing capacity or proper 4x4 capability which most people don't!
The only gripe is that it's very pricey for what it is IMO but that won't stop it selling like hot cakes!
And well done on transposing the last two letters on my user name. So witty. I chuckled all the way through my mocha skim no whip chai latte.
