I agree upto a point, the problem is that the Super Series 720s is so good, and so close to the P1 in performance terms, that nearly all the benefits of the P1's hybrid power were lost by the extra weight it added.
Got my 720 last week and done 450 miles on it so far. Can't say too much until I take it to Silverstone but it's a gigantic leap forward for Mclaren..... but it's no P1 even if it's just as quick. It doesn't have the torque fill and even those passed 4K revs it's in fire it's just not the same as chasing revs as hard as you can in the P1. The batts and way it's set up is unique to the car. It feels every bit the race car for the road. The 720 is impossibly composed, luxurious and impressive but it's no P1. If this "P15" exists or will exist it will be very good. The 570, P1 and 720 have proved that. I would include the 675 too but sadly never owned or driven that. Mclaren may make a few models but each is so different from the last. I think even if they make as many as 500 examples if it's as good as the mags say P1 and multiple mac buyers will be climbing over themselves to own mine of these too if they can.

I find I am getting slightly 'meh' about all these hypercars. Le Faf, Chiron, 918, Pagani, Rimac.......
Not specifically this one. I am sure it will be fantastic, slightly dearer, slightly quicker, slightly stiffer, slightly lighter, slightly more of everything. But where does this leave us?
I think I am lost on this performance. It just cant be used by anyone. The cost in tyres, depreciation, etc on track is mahoosive, and the chance to use on the road is non existent.
Whats it for? Willy waving. But I dont think the manufacturers know how to get out of this escalating cycle of power and speed.

Meh. Where do I hand in my PH badge?
This and the fact that we now have hypercars coming out of our ears. In the past something truely special only came up a couple of times in a decade while now there seem to be half a dozen or so new million pound cars every year that disappear as quickly as they arrived. If you bought a McLaren F1 you owned a legend, but P1 owners will already be feeling a little out of date.
Disagree, well only the IRIS will feel out of date. p1 could almost pass as a decent gt car if you don't need too much luggage and have a small girlfriend. If what autocar says is true this car will be much more hardcore and track focussed. The mags also say the bp23 is ultimate in Lux and power, plus the three seats so very different again. I'd love all three if I could...
