Biggest bargain car you've bought

I bought a rev 3 MR2 turbo for £1650 and wrote it off inside 3 days. A rear tie rod snapped and I speared off into a sign post backwards. Insurance paid out £2350.
I bought an early mk1 mondeo estate for £175 at auction for winter duties. My race kart would fit in the back if I took the back wheels off! So it took me racing, I towed a BMW out of a ditch in the snow, used the bumpers as parking aids and generally ragged the st out of it for 4 months. Put it back in the auction and it made £250.
I also bought a 2.5 V6 auto Mitsubishi Galant with 50000 miles from the same auction. £650. It was a genuine one doctor owner car. Main dealer serviced every year and it was spotless. I fitted a tow bar to tow my track bike. It took me to many trackdays around the country swiftly and in silence. The big heated leather chairs were amazing! I absolutely loved that car. I did 40k over 3 years and spent nothing on it bar oil, filters, petrol and tyres. I stuck it on eBay not knowing what it was worth. Within 20 mins I had a phone call asking how much do I want for it. I was on the spot so I stumbled and said err, £1200. He said can I have a look? Of course says I. An hour later he arrives, takes it for a quick spin around the block and put the asking price on my hand. On one hand I was chuffed, on the other, it must have been too cheap!
Karma is a bh though as I have made some spectacular losses too!

Paid £50 for a Volvo 480 ES, and £150 for 480 Turbo. Drove the Turbo around for a year or so, was perfect. Took the 480 to bits and sold them for about a grand, put 10k on the turbo and sold it for £1,500. Those were the days, pre-scrappage scheme. Can't say I've ever made such a percentage return on anything else, ever!
My last 2 cars were spectacular without trying, just right place right time. Sunbeam lotus for £11k that had just finished a 7 yr restoration and needing a spanner check, sold 3yrs later for £22k sight unseen.
Then 2 yrs ago a 993 S which was already sold but the owner realised he'd underpriced it and wanted £1500 more. Guy buying it was a tightwad and messed about for weeks until the owner sold it me for cash at full new asking price. Sold it 2 yrs later for +£20k
Saying all that every car iv e had previously lost money :-)
