I never really bonded with my DC5, shame as it was a great looking car. After several HID light issues I got rid after 5 months or so. I loved my DC2 but the 5 just didn't do it. I replaced the DC5 with a Clio Trophy which I prefered and was fault free over the years I had it, unlike newer Integra.

As a side note, I still want an EK9 as a daily!

They're expensive compared to a civic type r, but you are getting a car that stands apart, rather than a glorified shopping hatchback
All well and good, if you're happy to pay a JDM tax for what is essentially the same car underneath..... I mean, the DC5 is a hatchback too..

Buy an EP3, modify it and have a car that's better than a DC5 in every respect winkhehe
Aw st, now you've done it!

Step 1: buy EP3

Step 2: spend £££ modifying it to be "better" than a DC5

Step 3: profit?

Maybe just buy the better car in the first place and save yourself the trouble?

It's a belter of a car but agree with the above, the scene tax is a joke!

And what about the Ford (RS / Cosworth) scene tax? That's reached ludicrous levels, as evidenced by an RS500 fetching over £100k.

Or the 205 GTi scene tax? 5-figures for even shoddy cars needing a ground-up restoration.

...or any number of other questionable prices currently out in the market...

I really don't get this 'hate' of JDM import pricing - here are cars which are quantitively and qualitatively better than (most of if not all of) the Euro-market competition (whatever the badge), yet for some reason everyone expects them to be a bargain...is everyone else on some other planet where the wholesale appreciation* of the modern-classic car market over the last 5 years HASN'T happened?!?

* Minimum doubling of values for many 80's/90s legends, up to 5x or more increase for others. You may not like it and it may not feel like the cars are 'worth it' (in some cases they're probably not), but that's the new reality...

No hate here, id pay the JDM tax on a car if I wanted it.

I also love the DC5, do I love it many thousands of pounds more than an EP3, probably not, but each to their own.

I just like to dangle that when people slate the EP3 as the DC5's poor cousin because it doesn't have some of the same dynamics, but it is in most cases as least half the price and with some modifications is an excellent car.

Oh, and the RS/Cosworth scene is a while bonkers world of its own. Some of the stuff is just full on mental IMO.

Objecectively speaking, as much as I love the DC5, I wouldn't pay more than double the price of my own EP3 to get 95% the same experience.

However, having said that, the strong residuals of the DC5 do make it compelling.

In standard guise, It's not as good or raw as a DC2, but strip the interior out, turbocharge it and add some suspension etc, and it's an absolute riot. It's one of the most thrilling cars to drive. Makes most other cars feel very dull. But you need to watch that torque steer, will thrown you from lane 1 to 3 in a flash if you're not concentrating.

Still stuck with that stey suspension though eh. If you like modding why not pick the better base car, the DC2 smile

Suspension is great!

I have a couple of DC2s as well wink, but nothing, and I meant nothing, compares to the mentalness of this car.

I've had both cars. Despite not being a driving god, I prefered the DC2 on track but as a daily driver the DC5 gets the nod every time. And of course, my current FK2 is a completely different kettle of fish. All great cars in their own right.
