Outrageously good.

Shame most of them will end up in hideous blingy specifications. I know the whole point of getting one of these is to make a statement and to be imposing, but I think this could do that quite nicely even in a solid silver, no need for bright pink or gold plating.

Having a steering wheel and a dash with rev counter and speedometer all looks a bit naff. If anything should have autonomous driving to get you to the private jet airfield it's a Phantom.
Pah! I think you'll find it's a Power Reserve dial wink
Me too smile
I thought how vulgar.
Then, hang on, it's anti clockwise. And numbers descending.

I worked for bmw when the deal for RR/Bentley was announced and seemed a strange deal, bmw 'just' bought a name but vw got the factory and Bentley etc...
Bmw have built a factory/assembly plant from nothing. Bentley may sell more cars but what a cracking job bmw have done.
I was at Rolls-Royce PLC (Aero Engines) and it seemed very strange. At first it seemed as though VAG had been sold RR-B short, as they only got a lease on the RR brand. More intriguing was that Rolls-Royce PLC had an aero engine partnership company with BMW (Called BMW Rolls Royce).
However, it all seems to be working well for RR & Bentley now.

The front fins on the front quarters of this car are very handsome. That interior seems very 90's however. They could have put a cover on those door speakers.

An absolute work of art. That's how you design a car.

No design language nonsense. Marvellous
I watched Shmee's Youtube video about this car yesterday - and I beg to differ. The gentleman from the design department who did the walkthrough of the new Phantom was all about 'design language', I can't count how many times he said the word 'taper' referring to the lines of this thing.

An interesting if slightly toffesque interview, but good to see that when it comes to form, the RR team don't seem to give a stuff about what other manufacturers / the wider world are doing.

The gallery segment on the dash is mildly cringeworthy though, IMO of course. I can see some Middle Eastern customers doing truly horrendous things with that section of the interior.

The gallery is going to be awesome. I think I would have an epic engraving done like you see on the columns in Rome, showing a story as it progresses. Maybe a history of RR. Best get saving.

Yes, in the ultra-luxury segment, RR is in a class of one. BMW has done a great job reviving the brand.
agreed, the Maybach used to be very very very good at the time though

Such a salty press release, considering they've only just moved their flagship on to a dedicated platform, in it's 8th iteration. hehe
Too much focus on what others are doing, doesn't seem very RR.

Front end is a big improvement, i think this is a great looking thing. can't wait for the drophead!

The last Phantom was its own platform.

The only thing that detracts from the interior is the positioning of the clock on the passenger side of the dashboard similar to the Ghost. It looked much better positioned centrally in the Mark 7. Though if I could afford a Phantom I am sure they could place it where I wanted.

Stunning. What a beautiful piece of art. Well done RR, well done BMW.

I'm glad BMW got hold of RR as apposed to VAG.
We'd be on here talking about how the chassis had carried on from an old polo.

There isn't going to be a drophead. The new platform is pretty special when you realise it is bespoke to Rolls-Royce. No one can say 'it's just an expensive 7 series' like they used to...

I walked around one in the flesh this morning and before your own eyes it is extraordinary. The launch spec personally I don't feel best shows off he interior, but away from all the bright lights of the studio-it's really quite special.

I recall my first sight of the previous Phantom was pretty interesting. Was at the helm of a Caterham stuck in traffic on a motorway and one of these bohemoths crept up on the nearside lane. Quite a view when your own a*se is inches from the tarmac!

Can you stretch your legs out and watch TV in the back while getting a massage from the seats, while in TOTAL quiet and isolation from the world around you? To me that is the definition of a luxury car and what these CEO types want while being chauffeured to and from meetings/airports.

Ridiculously opulent, as it should be. I love these things, and the proper non-footballer Bentleys too. A nice Phantom 2 Continental would be nice in the garage alongside this new behemoth. The new one dwarfs this though at 221" vs 150" in length.

If the Ant Hill mob were Eton & Oxbridge-educated, hereditary-peerage prefixed toffs this is what they'd drive.

No doubt it's incredible to be chauffeured around in but something about the side profile seems odd, I think the fact that it appear to be higher at the front than the rear doesn't look quite right in my eyes.

Much as I miss that lad, I dread to think what he'd do with a Phantom 8. The previous model was certainly interesting with his touch. Was It the Rolls or the Lamborghini he stuck thousands of Swarovski crystals to the steering wheel of?
