RE: New Rolls-Royce Phantom - official!

I love how they did it.
Really do.
But it also alienates me.
... it is tooo much for me as I am only a mere mortal human.
Look at all that perfection. How should I ever feel comfortable in something like this.
Sometimes my stomach produces a little indecent hum, or god forbid I might smell of something that is not flowery at all.
How do you get from a horse race to your manor in this?
This is like silk bedding. Good to look at. Seems a nice idea, but I'll be very happy with a good cotton garnment.

"Whilst the majority of so-called luxury manufacturers are limited to sharing individual platforms in a specific sector with mass brands for say their SUV or GT offerings, thereby introducing unacceptable compromise, Rolls-Royce will be uncompromising in only using its own architecture across all its motor cars."
How are Bentley and Mercedes-Maybach going to recover from this burn?

Well Bentley don't even cater at this end of the market, and Mercedes-Maybach simply do not sell as well at this price point as Rolls-Royce.....How are Bentley and Mercedes-Maybach going to recover from this burn?
I doubt if Merc used a different platform for their Maybach models that would make them sell any more, mind.

I remember going to the motor show at the NEC in 2004 with my Dad. We looked onto the deserted Rolls-Royce stand and decided we were both going to buy a lottery ticket that evening. One of the employees came up to us and asked if we liked the Phantom. We both said yes and started having a very convivial conversation with him. After a while he asked us to wait there and brought back a big black leather bound book. It was the diary for visitors and prospective customers. He asked if we could come back in forty minutes. Of course we said yes. He knew we were never in a million years going to buy one.
We turned up at our appointment time and were treated like royalty. We had a personal tour of the Phantom that lasted nearly an hour. It was fascinating discovering about how this magnificent machine was designed and built. All this time we were the only members of the public on the stand.
At the end we thanked the chap from Rolls-Royce and asked for his card, which he produced from a special leather wallet.
Dad wrote to Rolls-Royce and thanked them for their incredible hospitality. By return of post we received a letter of thanks from the CEO and some hardback brochures.
They know how to treat people and because of this if I was in the improbable situation of buying a half million pound car I know where my money would go.

I remember going to the Show with my dad in the '60's, at Earls Court, in short trousers and a Fairisle sweater my mother had knitted. I wandered off on my own and came to the Jensen stand, which was the only one I noticed with a fence round it. They welcomed me warmly and I was allowed to sit in it and of course became a big fan as long as they lasted ... which wasn't long enough to buy one new. But is has shaped my taste in cars ever since, including a predilection for four wheel drive on-road cars.article said:

ContiSilent™ tires are equipped with an inner tire absorber, a polyurethane foam, attached to the inner surface of the tread area with an adhesive. Regardless of the temperature, the structure of the foam stays intact.
ContiSilent™ helps reduce interior vehicle noise up to 9 dB(A),
