Ballsy lap. Terrible steering technique though!
Have you ever done a 7 minute ring lap?
No, but I've done an 8min 12sec in a Focus RS with traffic, and a sub 8 in an F-Type. Wasn't saying it was a bad lap.....just an interesting steering technique! One handed through Adenau Bridge and letting the wheel slip through his (one) hand at the Karussell were particular highlights!

glorious

I bloody love the Viper. I think there might be a few seconds to be gained with practice and a less draggy set up.

well done to all involved

the Viper and the 'Ring are a great combination..

Always thought the Viper engine would have been much more interesting if it was a big diesel instead.

What's all that one handed driving about? Dodgy stuff..

Well of course Dominik Farnbacher is a pro racer that has raced in pretty much every prestigious race on the planet-bar F1 and that is his style. To say it is terrible is odd considering he has made a pretty good living racing all his life-in fact he will be driving NASCAR this autumn. I am sure he will do under 7 minutes when he goes back in a couple of weeks. Remember that over the 12 mile ring course, a manual car is handicapped by about 8 seconds overall compared to an sequential box. Makes his time mind blowing really.

I also have an ACR Extreme exactly like the one in the video (I believe its the only one in the country) and can tell you that this car is awesome. It is fairly easy and predictable to drive on the track. Although I have only started to use it on the track but the times it can post with relative little effort is amazing. For those that might be interested in watching the ACR on a track they perhaps know better, by a mere mortal, below in the link I am at Silverstone after only my second time there ever with the car and only my third time ever at Silverstone. I am a very amateur driver as you will probably tell, having started tracking just over a year ago but even with passenger and being slowed at the end, I managed a 2:19 without really pushing too much. I believe that once I get the hang of it a bit more a time close to 2:10 is possible. For a street car you drive to the track and back I think that's pretty awesome.
Here's me at Silverstone with my ACR.

Absolutely magnificent. The Dodge Viper has long been my favourite sports car and this legacy continues with this tremendous effort. A fabulous drive full of bravery and stunning control. It's great to see this 'old fashioned' relic give the computer-assisted millionaire missiles a bloody nose.

Looking at the vids, the Viper seems to top out at a modest 281 km/h or so on the long back straight. The surely lower powered 991.2 GT3 gets to 285, the Lambo a much more meaty 304. Why so slow for the Viper?

Nowt wrong with that, I did my first track day in a gen 4 ACR at silverstone. Took the instructor stting a brick to find out everyone else was braking into Abbey, he was quite impressed with the grip by the time we reached Village.

That's some serious handiwork. Reminds me of classic F1 onboards with manual gearboxes.

The noise ain't bad either.

Just so we are clear on this, the Viper had done some sighting and laps and Setting adjustments with Aero and suspension in previous days but the track was not their own and there were other cars out on track during this time.

When they had a go at a hot lap they had had 1 warm up lap and then 1, Yes, Just 1 Hot lap!

This time was from that "1 hot lap".
Sadly the weather was really against them. The guys plan to return and if you want to contribute to this awesome effort the link is here smile
