All the Insignia's and Corsa's are all imported are they not Vauxhall's then? If so then are they German and Spanish Opel's etc
All were part of GM (until recently) and now the new Holden Commodore is going to be...yes the Insignia imported to Australia
Somewhat missing the point there mate...All were part of GM (until recently) and now the new Holden Commodore is going to be...yes the Insignia imported to Australia
Difference is, the Corsa was designed to be a Vauxhall, these were not
Vauxhall drowning under a world of grey rubbish cars, originally imported 300 Monaros to use as a halo car, all have Holden VIN plates, even under the Griffin grill badge is the outline of the lion ready to put a Holden badge back on, I know as I'm on my second one now
P.s, I ran my local Vauxhall dealership yesterday for an Oil Filter and they couldn't help me, I think they'd probably stock them for Corsas and Insignias though

I seriously want an ISF or VXR8 but will probably have to go with the Lexus as it'll fit in a single garage. I do love the madness of the Vauxhall though [a Monaro would also be high up my list if the later versions didn't have such a small boot].
I did look at the VXR, really like them but went for the IS-F as I had been with Lexus for a number of years and was impressed with the reliability.mackie1 said:
I nearly bought a 600bhp supercharged one with 6 pot APs and Ohlins dampers for £17.5k about 5 years ago. So this isn't that cheap really.
The only reason I didn't is because I got gazumped by someone who had the cash on the day.
The 6 pots AP could have been OEM, unlike the early Monaros the VXR8 was spec'd with brakes that are more than up to the job.The only reason I didn't is because I got gazumped by someone who had the cash on the day.
Depending on the mileage, that car is probably worth the same now as it was then, if not a little more, which is testament to how depreciation proof these cars have become.
I forgot to mention, when people compare the used price of a Monaro/ VXR8 against a BMW' lexus or Mercedes, you need to do your home work on their respective failure points. You really have to find a good independent dealer for parts and servicing. Car's always go wrong!
Remember, you might get the car cheap, but the price of the replacement part's will always piss you right off!

This of course it's my old car. Loads of bmws about. Only swopped this for a supercharged VXR8. Had two on my drive 1250 BHP for the two no brainer . These are going up. I sold my last two over the past 2 years and it worked out all it cost me was fuel. Resale even covered my insurance and service costs. Hsv are great as are the community. Idiots not allowed.

that rear wing is deal breaker
It's removable https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...
For a few extra grand, I'd get the 630hp underneath that advert: https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

Lovely car. The design has aged very well. Get the slightly dulled paintwork / metal professionally detailed, and it's a great alternative to the sea of German clichés.Escort3500 said:

It's removable I loved mine - big, stupid, noisy, tail happy monster that struggled to better 18mpg in mixed driving, yet would signal 35mpg on a 60mph motorway run.
Things to note:
- I'd definitely get a 6.2 next time, if only for the better gearbox (TR6060) as the T56 in the 6.0 isn't the best, and rebuilds aren't uncommon.
- They're basic cars, simple to work on but many parts are expensive.
- Specialists are few and far between, only two of note. But thanks to the point above, it's not entirely necessary, just use them for the parts supply.
But if you like a bit more raucousness with your saloon cars, it's well worth considering.
