Just sold my V6 9-3 estate and on the lookout for a 2.5 mondeo estate.

Decent engined petrol estate cars are hard to find! (In my meager budget)

I've had 3 so far.

Started off with a C43

then had a few years without one. Wasn't easy to find a B10 V8S in touring in the UK with only 4 in the country, so with a heavy heart I had to settle for the lowly saloon version.

When I left the UK, I got myself a W8

Which is now replaced by a Brabus K8

So I rather like them. As long as they have 8 cylinders that is hehe
Wow that Brabus is to die for. I've an S211 E320 CDI estate, also have an SL55 so yours must have that engine but breathed in by Brabus? Love to know more, how's it drive, power output etc?
Any made in RHD? UK?
ALPINA also a dream car.

Wasn’t that called mystic blue, or did it change its name ant the facelift? Lovely colour either way smile
No, it was Deep Sea Blue and only on the 5 and 6 series I think?
Very similar to mystic blue though, a great colour on the E46.

My E61 above had option "760 Individual Hochglanz Shadow Line" so definitely available on the e60/1.

I normally hate chrome on cars, but my F11 is black with chrome on it, and rather than delete it I am going to go with dark wheels (even like these effcient dynamic ones) and put the boot strip on it which mine doesn't have. Being an SE I just think this works and after 20 odd M cars and M-sports I am liking the different look.

No question, best Estate car out there....
Best value perhaps but I think that accolade probably goes to the E63S or Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo at the moment.

Will be interesting to see what the new RS6 is like later in the year.

E46 330i Touring here. It's seen me through 2 jobs, several camping trips down to the south west, trips to the Ring and round Europe.

How it was when i first brought the car.

And nowadays..

Changed radically, but outwardly you'd not easily spot what was going on.
Any details on the mods?
Full thread here smilehttps://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Some pictures might not work due to Photobucket and FB being daft.

I do love an estate when it comes to a road-trip, even if it is knocking on a bit these days!

My 4th Estate. No real need for one, but as others have said better looking than the saloons, and really useful when needed.

Mines got the Brabus D6 upgrade fitted so plenty quick enough day to day

Hey Silver Star. I've the same car although mine is silver and boggin after 600+ miles touring in past week.
Interested to know what the D6 kit does. I find the performance of mine fine although wouldn't say no to more but I'd appreciate better fuel economy. Got 600 miles on last fill which was touring but much less commuting.
Cheers.

These have been mine;

a 540i with the six speed manual gearbox - I would still have it now (and probably none of the subsequent ones) if it wasn't for a sleepy taxi-driver writing it off...

...so then I bought an M5 Touring in black, black, blackety black...

...but when the engine (almost inevitably) let go on that I bought a one-of-twelve in rhd Alpina B10 V8 Touring...

...and I thought that would be enough until the one-of-one in rhd Alpina B10 4.6 Touring suddenly surfaced after a lifetime of anonymity...

So I bought it and now I just have the two Alpina's... along with some non estate cars.

Mines not normally that clean!

As for the D6 kit, I've seen economy go up by 2/3mpg, so I can now happily get 40mpg, even when not hanging around. On a recent trip from Cambridge up to Warrington (including many 50mph limits on the M6) it got up to 47.8mpg which I thought was incredible considering the size and weight.

Performance wise it's now on par with my father's 212 E350 estate, and it'll happily throw the traction control light on if you boot it from 50mph laugh

I'm also pretty certain the gearbox changes are smoother, although I may just be imagining that!

I remember as a kid in the late 80s there being a 3 series Alpina touring in my town think was B3 deffo remember 2.7 so you'll know better. Rich classmates mum drove a 535i with massive Alpina alloys. Always to this day think they are one of the most gorgeous wheel designs.
Lottery win I'd have a hangar of special cars and Alpina, AMG, Brabus etc would be in there. I'd rather have the new Alpina touring than the M5 saloon too. Although that's a close run thing.
Thanks for showing us some of your collection.

Thanks for the reply man. I'd consider that kit in the future but honestly I've no need and higher priorities at the mo. Bought mine to save on PCP of the 320d which in the 7 months I've had it has paid for it plus the maintenance. I'm now in the black so to speak. Soon it will need front suspension refresh so I'm saving for that and more work on SL55. Grrrrrr. I love hate that car LOL.
PS have u ever camped in it? I'm considering it, thought it a bit weird but having read this thread I think it's commonplace.

In the late 80s it would have been a C2 2.7, unless LHD when they switched the name to B3 part way through the E30 run. They also did a cheaper C2.5, with a fettled version of the 325i engine producing 190bhp, which was the one I had for a few years

Hey man. Thanks for replying and it was that model albeit red I think black or white stripes, deffo a 2.7.
I saw your post earlier with you Audi. Where was your road trip? The ring?
I see you're in Dublin, I'm co Down so not far and I studied in Dublin, lived Templeouge. It's changed a lot since early 90s.
We're blessed with great drives here. I'm just back from Leitrim, Donegal, Tyrone etc. Gorgeous weather and scenery.
What cars you got now?

Bought my first estate in 2016 - new Skoda Octavia RS in blue. Lovely car.

Sold it end of last year as I started a new job that came with a car - a VW Passat estate in white with the 132tsi engine, r line pack and full sunroof. Lovely car to drive - could do with more power. In 18 months time I'll either get a Skoda Superb 206 wagon or the Passat again if they do what they are saying and release it with the gti engine.

Signing in as just bought this today. Would have loved a £1-5k barge purchase (considered A8s and older estates) but I am moving back to the UK from the US so am buying remotely and needed the piece of mind of something newer. Bought unseen though as per barge thread tradition smile

Couldn't face spending £25-30k on a properly new one but this seems like a great middle ground at approx £17k for a 2013 with 30k on the clock.

Needed something practical for two young kids but fun enough when needed for me and modern enough to appease the wife. Plus I love the look of "sporty" estates smile

That was a road-trip down to the Ring and then the Eifel Rallye, a great few days away that I’ll aim to do again in the future

I find that higher-powered stuff is a bit wasted sometimes on our twisty Irish roads, of which there are many, so it’s great to get them over to Germany to really stretch the legs. Some of my favourite roads here though are in Wicklow, so not too far away from Dublin, and also the stretch of old road that runs between Carlow and Waterford, especially now that the motorway takes most of the traffic away from them

I still have the B5 RS4 and an ML55, but my MINI GP1 is the most fun car I’ve driven on the twisty Irish roads and would be the last one I’d get rid of I think. Hot hatches just make so much sense here for many reasons

And yes, Dublin has changed enormously in the last couple of decades. Unfortunately our motor and registration tax laws haven’t though! frown

Some fantastic roads up around Donegal too. What car did you take for the drive?

Currently shedding about in a 08 Saab 9-3 Aero wagon. First estate I’ve owned and I’m glad I bought one. Only trouble is I want to replace it with a C63 estate next which isn’t good as I’m trying to be sensible!
