RE: The six coolest police cars
Discussion
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't things like the 2000 Turbo/Evo VI/Sierra Cosworth police cars the aftermath of the infamous stolen Lotus Carlton that stole over £20K in ram raids in the early 90's? The thing outran every police vehicle, including the birds until the gang quit. Fantastic article to read if you have 5 minutes, makes you wonder if they burned out the Carlton, sold it abroad or if it's still sat in some garage somewhere.

We have these on the local roads...
6.2 supercharged V8 with an upgrade to make around 500kW/660bhp, 0-100kmh in around 4s.
Available in unmarked flavour, and in many HSV showrooms around the country, for about AU$100k.

Can always tell the PR cars such as this and the F-Pace, no force insignia, just generic Police livery
Avon and Somerset have been buying cars with non-force-specific livery for some time now. It stared because there were/ are talks of mergers with Gloucester and Wiltshire (not to mention Avon not existing anymore...). Then more recently, manufacturers like Vauxhall have started police specific production lines producing generic ready made vehicles, which are of course cheaper. CPWilliams said:

That infamous Lotus Carlton was owned by my boss at the time it was stolen. After the ram raids it was dumped in a canal and had a staved in roof when it was recovered, presumably from a passing narrowboat.http://jalopnik.com/an-amazing-lotus-tuned-sedan-t...
