What a bloated mess, but probably perfectly engineered to the brim, which pressed the last bit of soul out of it.

well, looks like a nip and tuck of the F10 to me, not great.

what is it with the german brands copying each other? its exactly the same car as the E63!

I think the paddle on the says M1 do guessing it's mode 1 and 2. Suspect one mode is 4wd and maybe 2wd. Beats faffing about with the I drive. Wouldn't want to select it by mistake under certain conditions. I'd love one but unless decent deals I'm never paying 100k on a BMW.

Exactly.

What people say they want and what they actually buy are often entirely different things.

People will only start to buy the Touring in large numbers once it depreciates to 50% of its value and this obviously isn't good business for BMW!

Whilst it's not my sort of car, I can't really understand the degree negativity it seems to be attracting; it seems like a natural evolution of the concept, I can't imagine why anyone would like the F10 but not the F90.

Kind of what you'd expect of an M5 in 2017, really. It was never going to be another E39, however nice that would have been.

I expect this to be better than the E63 but with both cars being so capable, I'd take the E63 as I prefer the looks.

I think this is the first time there's been a (proper) new //M car that uses the same engine as the outgoing model.

That's the cost of engine development for you.

I kinda like that, those red buttons though are a bit st, I would have to have them removed or sprayed black or something, including the engine start.

Not usually a matt paint fan but I rather like that too.

Was the E46 M3 engine not pretty similar to that in the E36 M3 Evo? Guess it still counted as a new one.

Hasn't this M5 engine been knocking out 600bhp for a few years now anyway, in the form of the 30 Jahre car and latterly the Competition Pack?

Epic performance and will be a seriously fast everyday car.

But I have to say, the cabin is really horrid. Those little red accents are not good at all, and that steering wheel is hideous!

But having said that, I'd have one tomorrow if I had the cash.

That looks like M1 and M2 mode. On F10, you can programme individual settings to your preference (throttle response, steering weight, suspension, gear change, etc.). Probably same again plus choice of whether you have 2wd or 4wd.

I like it and could have been a potential buyer but it's a huge price hike over F10.

What's with all the posts whining about it being "Too Fast" "Too Powerful" "Irrelevant"???

For fcks sake Pistonheads People, if you're supposed to be car enthusiasts then we're all screwed. Where are the shouts of "Hurrah for the continued use of bonkers powerful V8 petrol engines"?

Maybe the car manufacturers should just accelerate the development of their electric-powered appliances and be done with it? How happy will you be then?

Meanwhile, just carry on in your tawdry-but-efficient 2 litre diesels. I shall continue to enjoy my E63* on a daily basis.

(*) Estate, natch.

My F10 without options was £59k brand new 2 years ago

It's going to need some serious discount for me to be interested

It's too big and too quick...........but the want is still strong lol
