'The car is only valued £19k by WBAC as pointed out by other members'
As you know by now, they don't want it - other trade buyers offer £24k+, consistent with the £27k that a fellow member got privately.Do you still believe the balance of supply and demand values this car at £19k ?
This car and its owners upsets you a lot - pure envy would be my assumption.

I never once suggested the balance of supply and demand values this car at £19k. Merely that it will probably be worth the final PCP value of circa £17k at three years, and it already being valued at 19k by WBAC serves as evidence of downward pressure on values. If people disagree, fine - perhaps they could entertain the idea of being respectful in doing so rather than using offensive language about me for holding a viewpoint (backed by actual evidence rather than just insults and abuse, at that).Do you still believe the balance of supply and demand values this car at £19k ?

What 'upsets me a lot' is the constant barrage of abuse and unsubstantiated criticism, which in some cases seems to have involved pouring over old posts looking for things to laugh at me me about 'hahahahahah he only has a Fiesta' 'hahahahahahah he's in his thirties and thinks the ST is a good car' 'hahahahaha he doesn't understand anything about finance' 'hahahahahah he said it's hard to fully ring the power out of the car on public roads' 'hahahahahahaha let's all insult this guy, never mind about his feelings hahahahaha he deserves to be hurt hahahahaha'.

What bores people (aside from pointless bickering- see your earlier reply in 'Advanced Driving'), is that you fail to acknowledge that it's the retail market that drives the dealer one. If people will pay £29k for a used Focus, that's what drives the value. The WBAC valuation is as meaningful as you or I saying "I'll give you £500 for it".What 'upsets me a lot' is the constant barrage of abuse and unsubstantiated criticism, which in some cases seems to have involved pouring over old posts looking for things to laugh at me me about 'hahahahahah he only has a Fiesta' 'hahahahahahah he's in his thirties and thinks the ST is a good car' 'hahahahaha he doesn't understand anything about finance' 'hahahahahah he said it's hard to fully ring the power out of the car on public roads' 'hahahahahahaha let's all insult this guy, never mind about his feelings hahahahaha he deserves to be hurt hahahahaha'.
Nobody will sell their Focus to WBAC, because they don't need to, due to dealers and private buyers offering well in excess of £12k. Even if WBAC bought one in Unicorn White for £12k, it would not hit the open or dealer market for anywhere near that (it would be double, I expect).
It's fine to crow at people who bought one as an 'investment' who are not likely to see big returns, however to argue black is white in such an utterly illogical manor is, well, illogical.

There is almost always a downward pressure on values, that's stating the obvious. It being valued at £24k by other trade sites should be evidence that your assumption that it's worth £19k to trade in is wide off the mark.

No, I do acknowledge that. However it's only as simple as you make it out to be on a private sale. If a trade in is involved, then clearly trade in values are relevant to the person doing the selling - what they get subsequently sold for is essentially irrelevant - and a lot of people, particularly these days, don't seem that jazzed about doing £20k or so deals on their own door step with random geezers. Also where has £12k come from? Nobody will sell their Focus to WBAC, because they don't need to, due to dealers and private buyers offering well in excess of £12k. Even if WBAC bought one in Unicorn White for £12k, it would not hit the open or dealer market for anywhere near that (it would be double, I expect).

Anyway the thread has gone way off topic (again). But thank you for your contribution and managing to not accuse me of being 14 years old this time.

I never once said that my assumption is that ALL trade in values are £19k. I only ever mentioned WBAC as that was the one quote that was discussed and clearly WBAC don't operate in a vortex. My position has always been that it'll be worth £17k at the end of 3 years -.e.g owners will have no deposit left in a PCP and may even have to hand the car back and have Ford swallow a small loss - and that's it really. Is that seriously such an outrageous and controversial opinion? It being valued at £24k by other trade sites should be evidence that your assumption that it's worth £19k to trade in is wide off the mark.
I'm not sure we're moving the conversation forward by going round in circles so much Frog so maybe we should just leave it. The truth will out in 2019 when everyone who was convinced they'd walk away with £10k profit from their PCP has to start thinking about moving it on. And when that happens I'll be there with my carefully saved pennies, ready to swoop in, buy one and then presumably run it straight off the road and wrap it round a tree on day one because me quoting multiple sources on Youtube as saying it's hard to legally get the full power of the car down on UK roads means I clearly can't drive. Frankly I'm amazed I've even managed to put on underpants today.

Make your mind up sir - am I early thirties (and therefore deserve to be sneered at for having 'only' a Ford Fiesta, irrespective of possible reasons for that or whether I give a monkey's about what anyone else thinks of my choice of car) or am I of secondary school age? Perhaps I'm so dumb that I am in my thirties but have never been allowed to finish secondary school, stuck forever in an endless vortex of broken dreams about finally passing GCSE examinations and hoping desperately not to soil my Huggies during the Christmas carol performance?
Didn't sneer at you for owning a Fiesta, my insult was to ask how long it was going to take for some decent input from you on here seeing as you waited 14yrs to arrive at the Fiesta ST "decent car" in your own wordsUntil Half Term then...

So just to be clear, what is the supposed insult there? That the ST isn't a decent car? That I deserve to be ridiculed for having to use transport more suited to my responsibilities as a carer in my 20s? Yes, sincere apologies for not owning a Boxster to transport my disabled relatives around in. Until Half Term then...

That it took so long to get to a decent car, will it take the same length of time to get a useful post out of you rather than the ranting and posting any old crap you can spoutI didn't mention a Boxster nor disabilities although I'd suggest you might need some form of help yourself

Give over, many of us had a rough start in life, I got kicked around by my old man during my formative years, and didn't achieve anything at school , I still managed a decent car by the time I was 20 - civic type r ep3 and it was new!
Quit being such a victim , you sound like my girlfriend when we role play on a Friday night .....; )

I drive an ST and people don't mock me but I tend to deliver well-rounded points in a concise, unbiased, succinct manner. Your method of posting is more like a woodpecker on a landmine.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
