Tenuous....we're talking arches here.....and have been for a number of pages.

You can also claim that different bumpers and a different spoiler count as a body kit seeing as uber pedantry going totally off topic is your thing

Sorry laugh The Sapphire was probably the most "mundane" looking of all the sporting Fords yet I don't think the styling detracts from the car one bit.

As for lack of bespoke parts on the Focus RS, the front and rear bumpers plus rear spoiler are bespoke

And the mk3 Focus RS has sideskirts, unique bumpers and a rear spoiler...so the argument that it's indistinguishable from a standard Focus doesn't really stand surely?

True, I'm sure with all the pedantry aside, you know what I'm getting at.

I'm not sure I started the uber pedantry, if I recall that was you.

I suppose you could argue that if you wanted a lairier looking fast ford you could look at the Mustang Ecoboost instead. Maybe Ford should do an RS version with big arches for those who prioritise that sort of thing.

Not really, I was pointing out the flaw in your badly worded 'argument' The RS1600i was after all another sell out RS that didn't have arch extensions or stick on side skirts. You just conveniently forgot that one

I guess the easiest way to sum up is that the RS brand means different things to different people, but nothing is set in stone, the Focus RS's have all had a uniqueness from one generation to the next and I guess when the MK4 RS arrives as a 5dr with standard arches and some sort of hybrid assist people will moan about that just as much lol

Mustang = better road presence, more iconic heritage. A genuine head turner. Sounds a lot better as well. RWD. Better paint options. How ironic to see Focus disciples ridiculing the line lock on the Mustang whilst erecting churches to commemorate the actually far less useful RS drift mode.

I doubt anyone gives a baboon's toss about wheel arches really.

Erm so why did you go on about the arches then???

Well said yes the arches are one of the major issues with it.
Which individual from here has gone on about the line lock and also erected a church regarding drift mode? Just in your mind again I'd imagine...

The Mk3 would have benefitted from having wider/flared arches.

And, the Mk1 RS2000 Escort, and other sporting varieties, all had flared arches.

Not sure about the Mk2?

You're unbelievable - so you say you like the FRS and are considering one but the Megane and Mustang are both better - which of the 3 are you buying first ?

The Mustang is better with regards to the points I made - surely nobody would suggest the MK3 RS has more road presence and more 'wow factor' to the average person than the RS? That's what I said. I didn't say it was objectively better.

The Megane is highly likely to be better as it has a similarly excellent pedigree and is 3 years down the line in terms of development - how often are cars released, especially 'premium' cars as it were, that are BEHIND the competition from 3 years ago?

There's nothing inconsistent about anything I've said. What I buy next is a) completely irrelevant to the points at stake and b) depends on how good the Megane RS actually ends up being, plus how much Foci and Mustangs depreciate. Perhaps I'll chop my humble ST in for a Megane, perhaps I'll keep the ST and get a Mustang as well. Makes bugger all difference to the points at stake e.g. wheel arches.
