Not a fan of the front, but I love the interior. Perfect gt car!

It is weird how money has to be old for it to have any respect on PH, all those landed gentry....
Indeed. It's almost as though if you have actually had created your own wealth rather than being born into it you have no right to judge what is tasteful.

I borrowed a friends Conti GT in Dubai (yes, I even travel to such hideous nouveau riche ghastly places) and was entertained by the old beast, albeit very much the GT car in wallowing around the bends. I think the new one looks great personally.

I think it looks great. Was going to say it looked like it is inspired by the concept car, which looked fabulous.

Given it is a wafter, I think i'd go for the convertible for those jaunts down to the South of France biggrin

Ooo, I like that.

Is this directly comparable to a DB11?

Whilst they may both be GTs, I feel this is another level of comfort, and loses a bit of the impressiveness of driving experience to the DB11.

Therefore quite a different market?

Price wise they are very close, they are essentially direct competitors! It's unlikely someone would own both, much more likely they would chose one or the other.

Great looking car, even if I'm not 100% on the rear. In the videos it looks superb, I would think even better in real life.

It's a LOT better looking than the old one - love the new rear end. It has the usual connotations of nouveau riche awfulness but I bet it's a tremendous thing to live with day to day.

Masons black with dark red leather please.
Absolutely! cool

I cannot help but like these and often skim the classifieds for an ageing Continental GT that I might actually be able to afford. I am particularly impressed by the quality of body manufacturing and painting that is possible on what is, after all, a mass-produced car. As a personal car, I think one of these could be very satisfactory indeed.

I find two things disappointing. First, they tend to be ordered in specifications which are not to my taste. Black paint, black wheels, black windows, black wood, black leather, that sort of thing. But that is not an inherent failing of the car. Second, I do not find this kind of car to be at all luxurious: it is almost as if the word "luxury" has come to mean something quite different. Luxury surely means simple, timeless, long-lasting? a kind of lightness of being? less is more sort of thing? All of this quilted leather, heavy-handed detailing and high-gadgetry is not true luxury.

Two questions: does it have a full size spare wheel? and what is the autoroute range?

...the Arnage is a lovely thing , but objectively its not a patch on the Continental and GT, however the cognoscenti have decided its a "Proper Bentley"...
If that's aimed at me you've got the wrong end of the stick. I was referring to this as being a 'proper Bentley', I love it but then I've got tires older than my money so maybe that explains my shocking taste hehe
Nah, not specifically at you, but that does pop up all the time, I kind of nicked your phrase, its as if the Conti, Spur and Bentayga arent worked on by craftsmen in Crewe. The Mulsanne is a wonderful thing but not many are sold in comparison, doesnt mean the others arent valid, I would venture they are better cars for having the VAG content as well, all the stuff you dont see made well, in volume with all the craftsmanship where you can.

I do wonder if some have ever been in a modern Bentley, I have been in a couple of Contis, one a GT Speed and they are rather magnificent, more than enough Bentley for most.I just cant get sniffy about a brand new Bentley from the seat of my 2008 seven grand Merc.

Of course Footballers and similar will buy them, or maybe did, they have perhaps moved on a little, they have money and that is the only qualification you need, the companies that did get sniffy about prospective owners, funnily enough dont really existing in any meaningful capacity anymore, where Bentley is going from strength to strength.

Not sure why we get so sniffy about footballers, not a fan but if you are at the top of your tree in any area, you get paid well, but on PH you have to have a title, wear brogues and a Barbour before anyone takes you seriously, the world has changed, wealth has changed and the cars have as well.

Front is a little heavy grill wise but that is the modern way. Overall a nice car and at least it has the nav screen in the right place rather than the stuck on aftermarket look that many German cars now have.

I initially thought the nose looked a little 'wrong' - like it dropped too much. However, seeing the other angles and the rear, I actually like it. A nice step forward and a modern update of the GT. What's not to like?

The Conti GT is an exceptional car and not really made for going round a track - they are made for getting from A to B on real roads in real luxury at an un-godly speed...and they manage this without question.

My boss has just taken delivery of a 710SS and anyone who claims they 'like cars' should experience this thing in the metal and THEN try and claim they "can't see the point" or "wouldn't have one". Ha ha...yeah right. biggrin

underneath the luxury trimmings the car is extremely capable, the continental gt3 car is 1300kg and regularly comes first in its class, beating 488's, 911's, etc

You don't actually believe the GT3 version has anything to do with the production car?
