RE: New TVR Griffith - official
Discussion
I have a TVR and I did own a Morgan Aero 8. They are remarkably similar in what they offer the driver/owner.
I realise that TVR want the i-stream production process and their own in house factory, and whilst iam not privy to any of their thinking, but surely approaching McLarean (about to mortgage the lot) or Alpine (about to close a plant) or Lotus (same skill set as they need?) to joint make or share production has merit?

I like the way you are thinking and am also envious of your past Morgan Aero 8.. that must be quite a visceral car.I realise that TVR want the i-stream production process and their own in house factory, and whilst iam not privy to any of their thinking, but surely approaching McLarean (about to mortgage the lot) or Alpine (about to close a plant) or Lotus (same skill set as they need?) to joint make or share production has merit?

Surely Morgan owners (or more likely their children) are the market TVR should be aiming for, certainly the small team/small factory/small output model
I think Morgan owners will still buy Morgans. TVRs are a bit too new fangled.TVR are embarking on a fresh strategy of zero emission vehicle production unseen for many years.
By adopting and implementing a strategy based on vapourware, unobtainium and fkwittery they have established themselves as the clear class leader in the sector.
They have not been spaffing Covid funding up the wall. Definitely not- or as this is PH Defiantly not.
TVR look forward to bringing more exciting news to the sector once they close the deal with some guy who is selling magic beans.

Even my childish optimism has left me about the TVR rebirth.
I would be less surprised to see Lord Lucan riding Shergar down the street clutching the Holy Grail topped to the brim with the 80s drink Quatro than a new, finished, customer Griffith in the wild.
Dont get me wrong, I would love to see one, but am not hopeful.

I reckon that there is more chance of me waking up tomorrow as a 6'5" bloke(I'm currently only 5'8") than TVR coming back! I was quite optimistic in the early stages, and I enjoyed actually getting to see the new car in person at Burghley House some years back, but there isn't any chance of them coming back now though in my opinion.
The company still needs to raise a substantial amount of investment to make a start on production. By the time they manage that and get a factory up and running, we will be close to the 2030 ban on new fossil fuelled vehicles. only this morning Maserati have released their last petrol powered car, and that's at nearly 3 x TVR's price point and is available now.
When the red wonder was first displayed, EVs weren't taking over the world and the ICE was still the main method of propulsion for performance cars.
Unfortunately TVR failed to raise sufficient finance while they waited for the factory unit in the valleys to be made ready, then COVID happened, the Ukraine war happened, much of the enthusiasm for such investments vanished and EVs became the only sane car production investment, and even EVs are taking a bit of a pause right now while the economy is staring down the toilet bowl and the Bank of England is squeezing our pips.
So right now I cannot see TVR raising the finance to start any form of production, and if by some miracle they did, it would more likely be to produce a TVR Tincan running on Duracells, not a glorious 5 litre V8.

I suspect the issue is that LE knows the project is doomed but if he comes out and says so there will be a demand for all the remaining deposit monies to be repaid, assuming TVR are still holding deposits, and the money is not there to pay for them being recalled all at once.
Do you really think that there are they many people with a deposit down after all this time? And even if there were a few, they only put £5k down at most. Sadly I think the brand will stay with Edgar, who will never get the funding.
the fact that there’s nothing beyond a one-off hand built proof of concept tells you all you need to know.
You don’t need to wait for a honking great factory to be ready in order to build a handful of development prototypes - a small unit or the myriad of specialist motorsport outfits we have in this country could of churned them out in no time.

Just look at the hours of testing, crash testing and development miles that the likes of GMA put into the T.50 and T.33.You don’t need to wait for a honking great factory to be ready in order to build a handful of development prototypes - a small unit or the myriad of specialist motorsport outfits we have in this country could of churned them out in no time.
TVR haven't even started any kind of testing yet, let alone homologation, type conformity etc etc etc.

To suggest that there was an element of "while they waited for the factory... to be made ready" is revisionism of the highest order, I'm afraid.swisstoni said:
