So much hatred for something that might not be the most beautiful thing ever on 4 wheels, but for the fact that you can go from 0-250mph and back again in under a minute, then pop down to the kebab shop without a team of engineers, changing the bodywork, changing the gearing and then doing the same thing, day in, day out and only having to have it serviced every few thousand miles like every other normal car is nothing short of incredible.
The engineering on it must be just mindblowing.
People saying "I'd take a Ferrari over it any day" are missing the point entirely. Anyone that is lucky enough to have one and it be their only "special" car, or something that they bought themselves as a 40/50/60th present for doing well are going to be in a very very small minority, if at all.
Not sure its hatred, but maybe its a question of relevance. I don't know of anywhere here in the UK or London where I could do 250 mph and then pop down to a kebab shop, without being killed by traffic. The engineering on it must be just mindblowing.

If you do, then more power to you, and feel free to buy this and post up the video of your achievement.
I'm not sure he mentioned London, anyway? Besides, his point was that the car CAN do those sort of speeds, whilst still being a very usable proposition for doing to mundane tasks as well.
You're a miserable person aren't you. You realise you're on a car enthusiasts website, right?

Got to admit I'm loving the Chiron even more - after Chris Harris drove one and noted how much more interesting it is than the fairly anodyne Veyron it'd be very high on my Euromillions win list.
Yep. I was always a 'fan' of the Veyron in that I appreciated the engineering, but I never really yearned to own one no matter how much I had in my dreamland bank account. The Chiron is a different story. So much want for this, it would be surprisingly high on any wish list right now. Black over white for me, please. ChocolateFrog said:
Although the Veyron broke more ground it's the Chiron that connects emotionally with me.
Better looking, better sounding, better drivers car and quite probably even better built.
I'd have one.
I bet you'd still lose the traffic light GP to a Tesla Model S P100D.
i think the Tesla maybe a couple of tenths quicker to 60 mph, we are at the limit of road tyre grip for acceleration, then the fact has more than twice the power will take over.Better looking, better sounding, better drivers car and quite probably even better built.

Roughly 10% faster than an F1 car, for -65% less money...
10% faster at what? Certainly not at going round a race track! Bit of a pointless comparison really....F1 = 232mph
Chiron = 261mph.
The Empire State Building weighs 4.25Bn Tonnes.

ETA: I have a vague memory of an early review of the Veyron where as a measure of its immense performance, the journalist said that Bugatti's pro driver could stay with a Formula Ford for half a lap...

As a couple of us said earlier, an F1 car is not designed for straight line speed; they're designed for corners at a massive compromise to straight line speed. They're as aerodynamic as a brick. Put an F1 car and a Chiron on a track and the F1 car would just disappear into the distance.

And the F1 car has to make do with a piddly little 1.6 litre engine. I am betting the F1 car is also more economical at full chat than either the Veyron or the Chiron as well.ETA: I have a vague memory of an early review of the Veyron where as a measure of its immense performance, the journalist said that Bugatti's pro driver could stay with a Formula Ford for half a lap...
As good as the Bugatti is the F1 car is far superior.

you're being the same on the other thread....bashing someone for liking an expensive car that you can't afford.

Have to admit those posts made me smile too , what does relevance have to with it , if thats the criteria for 99% of people including me anything above a VW up (or its like) is not relevant but as said its supposed to a car website , Im guessing though if it was wearing a lexus badge Big_Rob might have a differant point of view I'm not sure he mentioned London, anyway? Comparing the two is pointless.
I bet if you told anyone on here you could have a Chiron for the weekend of 7th October they would be spending 80% of their working day thinking about it and how to use it on that weekend to it's full potential. Then of course the forum blog answering all the questions, the video of it going up to 70mph during a 3 point turn, but the other video is private on youtube etc etc.
This is a car that falls into being like one of those modern rollercoasters, the ones with the biggest drops and fastest speeds, which are fun, but cannot be compared to the old wooden rollercoasters like the Grand National, Big Dipper or the Mad Mouse at Blackpool which had less stats but were insane and you wondered if you might actually fly off. Times change, but all rollercoasters are fun.
Even going fast in a straight line is rather awe inspiring in this I bet. Show your friends. Would you get bored of it? I doubt it
The one thing I did not like about the video was the editing so we could not see the full run. The brake light at 400 came on at 400 on the clock, so I assume the Bug speedo is 100% accurate rather than the normal. Given that some stats from the onboard, all approx
0-200 17.5 seconds
200-250 15+ seconds
0-250 33 seconds
250-0 8 seconds removing reaction time.
Considering the weight I bet Montoya's first comment after getting out of the car was "Do you smell carbon brake dust? "
The only thing quicker than the car is the Bugatti sales team posting this video after the new Mercedes hypercar was shown at Frankfurt

You think when Louis Rigolly broke the land speed record to be the first person to do over 100mph, people said "Who gives a st? It's pointless"
I'm sure and hope that not many did, but this wasn't anyone breaking the land speed record. People have been over 250mph before. It can't even claim to be the first to do so in a car.The reality is this is nothing like being the first person to go over 100mph, or a new landspeed record. This is far more mundane, they did the 0-400-0 a bit faster than other people have. That's why it's a bit less exciting.
