the roads in that area were a hoot for enthusiastic driving.

My daily commute was from home to ironbridge power station down some amazing lanes.

.
They're still great Gary thumbup
Favourite was skirt condover then over the road to crosshouses and on the lanes to at atcham then the b4380 to ironbridge. Knew every bump and ripple on that road.

Yep that's it.

My commute is nowhere near as nice, but I would have been out of a job now as the power station is now shut.

The average speeds recorded in these villages were 24.7mph and 23.4mph. There may have been the odd very fast person in combination with very slow people, but this seems unlikely in consideration of the nature of the roads and the highest speeds recorded haven't been published.
That sounds like quite a high average speed for traffic in a built-up area. To achieve that, cars must be travelling well in excess of it for quite a portion of the time
Depends entirely on the nature of the road....
Depends on how average is measured. Arithmetic mean, modal or median?
Were they definitely recording average speeds though? Aren't these figures more likely to be the averages of speeds recorded at a single point?

2010 48 reductions and 5 increases reported here

I understood that a large amount of the NSL to 50mph limits changes in Oxfordshire were done so the road could be reclassified for maintenance priorities .
reclassified usually means changing from an A road to a B road, or a B road to a C
Surely all the tiny back lanes are still NSL and are suitably maintained = not much at all
