RE: New Audi RS4 - Frankfurt 2017
Discussion
Without seeing it in the flesh, it appears again that Audi have toned down the aggressive styling.. B8 RS4 still looked great in my eyes. Sounded pretty nice too with the sports exhaust.. I do wonder what this does to the values of older RS4/5?
Audi are sanitising the RS brand. I think the current RS6 is the last of these beasts...
Anyone know how the new RS5 is selling?

Is there a new halo brand coming out for Audi? Audi are sanitising the RS brand. I think the current RS6 is the last of these beasts...

Doesn't look as menacing as the B8 nor as genuinely good looking as the B7 but it's still a nice thing.
The biggest question I've always had about any RS Audi since the B7 is how did they get that one so right (coking issues aside, only going off reviews from magazines and owners) in terms of handling, ride and so on but then can't get any of the subsequent cars to do the same thing?

Anything with an S or RS badge & 4 or 5 drs are fair game at the minute over on the Audi forums I browse with almost daily new theft threads.
You can also apply this to any Ford these days, not just the fiesta ST, Even cooking models of the focus are going missing at a alarming rate.I love this shape A4. It's not radically different from the last one but it looks shaper, without being all melty like a Mercedes.
I think Audi have returned to the restrained buyer of the early 90s with Mercedes taking the place of the cock mobile.
Aside from s line A3s

Shouldn't have to think like that, but here was a guy killed locally by someone stealing his S3 and a mate had his RS4 nicked the other day when selling it, thieves posed as buyers, he got his hand caught but luckily not badly injured but these scumbags think nothing of dragging you down the road or driving over you, he got his RS4 back intact on false plates.
I think people need to be in the picture and be a bit wary of owning one, especially if they live near a big city, keep your wits about you, have good security and just be ready to hand it over if it comes to it.
It's not just big cities these days - this theft took place in one of the most rural parts of Lancashire. I've been offered a very good deal on a new RS6 but despite living in the middle of nowhere I'm not sure it's worth the aggro given the lengths miscreants will go to locate and steal them.

I would echo these sentiments although I always wait to see a car in the flesh before making final judgment ...seems to be the direction they've taken since the ex lambo guy took the helm which is strange TBH. New RS5's in the classifieds from 88k (mental ) down to 65k which is prob the right price over 70k for either the 4/5 is pushing it given the current RS6 with reasonable spec could be had for mid 70s after discount a couple of yrs back Audi are sanitising the RS brand. still can be - Audi are chucking in 7k deposit contribution until end of the month - was offered another 10k on top off a performance 600ps model - so circa 75k brand new. Assume they are clearing out the last cars & build slots before they end production. Some first videos emerging of the new 4:

My RS4 was £300/yr to insure. That's how worried my insurance company was about theft. Google the top ten theft rates and you'll not find an RS model in there. The S3 is up there as is the Q7, the RS4 is not.I think people need to be in the picture and be a bit wary of owning one, especially if they live near a big city, keep your wits about you, have good security and just be ready to hand it over if it comes to it.
This B9 doesn't excite me nor turn me off at first glance but theft would not factor in my decision whether to buy one or not.

I think it depends a lot on where you live, and your RS4 "was" £300 a year to insure, if this is getting more prevalent, premiums will rise accordingly.
I wouldn't let it stop anyone buying one but it should be considered, but not sure you can completely avoid it whatever you buy that is quick and or expensive.
