Birmingham again - what a horrible place.
And remember folks - never buy a car from Birmingham (unless you already Know the owner).

I keep reading about auto watch, why can’t it let the car be started and driven for a short time, before it cuts the engine if you don’t enter the code, they wouldn’t get far and they wouldn’t be in your house.
I know others have mentioned a system that does that, but there are some serious risks with that.

My M4 was stolen after a burglary in early January and was on the motorway in a matter of minutes. What happens if the car stops in the outside lane? The risk of a serious crash involving innocent drivers would be huge and you’d have questions to answer about that.

I’ve fitted a Ghost system on the new one, along with a Cat 5 tracker and massively upgraded my house security and external protection around the car.
www.automotive.vodafone.co.uk/stolen-vehicle-tracking-/vodafone-protect--connect-5.aspx

The system here can be used to remotely disable the car (under police authority).
I’ve got around 5 levels of tracking on my new car, the one that means it won’t be stolen is the Ghost system.

If I was that copper I’d have just driven into the front of the Audi and disabled it sod running towards it with a baton drive into it and pop it’s radiators bend a wheel in and then wait for backup
You do that and I'm sure you would be reprimanded.
and thats where its wrong! they could have easily run that cop over, the police just seem powerless to do anything, say what you like but if that was america the cop would have been armed and firing shots already

Ignore the name, it isn't a feature just for car jackings.

When you start the car each time, you need to enter a code, if you don't it cuts off a mile or something later with horn on and lights flashing.

Has been around for decades, Clifford is a reputable company.

Had a Clifford avantguard on my last 2 cars and it’s impressive especially the blackjax it also has proximity sensors that beep if u go near it! If I owned a golf R of Audi rs it’s the system I’d have
I've had Clifford Blackjax either as part of the alarm or as a standalone on all my used performance cars since 2004. Id also recommend it.

I'm not sure that it would have been immediately possible, given the amount of traffic/pedestrians in that video, but in isolation that course of action could be easily justified*, if not executed.

  • NDM, PLAN, PACE/use of force, pursuit policy etc. That does make the assumption that the cop at the scene is both aware of all of those things and making decisions in context - which if they're not TPAC/IPP trained, they might not be. It still doesn't solve the problem of dealing with four violent suspects who are now on foot on a busy street, while you're alone.

I recently got Pandora installed on my R35 GT-R, great bit of kit.

It has active security mode so that if the GPS/GSM signal is lost, a notification will be received.

Also has wireless immobilisers that can still disable the car.

Bit of a late reply but id like to chime in. Im now in late 40’s, and we had a terrible time with ford rs and cosworth types in our day. Ive only been a victim of theft once on my rs turbo which was parked on the street.
I know a friend who got 6 years for running over a car jacker in scotland and seriously damaging him. He chased the car and rammed it off the road and when the guy done a runner he knocked him down. This is where the law is against you not for you.
Around our area,Audi is a favouite for crime families and drug scum.
Truth is, it is not worth sitting worrying about your car all night. I recently borrowed my younger brothers rs3 for a single night. Attention and looks i dont mind, but i was tailed by three young asain lads who had the audacity to follow me to my street. I knew they were just admirers and were in a golf r themselves. I had a good chat with them and told them of the error of their ways. They were sound but i did have sheffield steels finest nearby just incase. They could have my car along a with a few puncture wounds anytime.
We live in a society of utter scum. I detest these people and unless they get me first, id go out of my way to hurt them.

Is that an old RS4 / RS6 that pops into view at the end?

"A box of rifles" was flung from the car? Looks like one air rifle to me.

My bro has just bought an A45 AMG – suprised that you don't hear more about these being pinched along with the R's and RS's.

Should he be worried?

It's the 'loud' version with lots of sporty bits on it, so hopefully not desirable for the blend in factor.

Top Reporting there, MK2 TT convertible is worth 50 grand apparently, impressive appreciation from when it was orginally purchased, and amazing given that ever other one is under ten grand.

Not sure if it is or not. I guess what I meant is – are they as much a target as the Golf R's and Audi S/RS's? Always hearding about those and not so much about the A45.

Haha yes it has THE spoiler.

Like I say, the car is quite loud looking which I thought may be an off-put for those looking for a getaway car.

That being said, he lives in a nice part of town with a lot of nice cars, R8 is just a few doors down. Hopefully he'll be okay eek

Hey guys, I'm looking into buying an S3 in June but after reading this thread I'm in two minds about it now. I live in an average area and don't own a driveway or parking directly outside my house so no CCTV either, would I be mad to continue with this purchase? This is a huge decision and being 22 if mine was to be stolen insurance wouldn't touch me ever again.

The fact it wouldn't be immediately obvious which house contains the keys to the car may be a plus.
