My sister came back yesterday to find her patio doors smashed and house ransacked and keys and the S4 gone. Ended up in Leeds recovered (30 miles away). This was middles of the day, brazen as hell.

Probably going to try to return it now, absolute scumbags.
How did they know she was out/going out?
I think there was an extra car there one day when they scoped it out a few days earlier that wasn't there yesterday.

This was Oldham area.

Probably didn't know or care.
More likely they did though.
Hence the question.

Would your insurance pay out? You deliberately put your car where it was damaged so wouldn't they claim nothing to do with them?
They would pay out but it would be a claim on his own insurance.
Not true.

Most insurers I know of will not pay out for;

any deliberate damage caused to your car by anyone insured under your policy.

or even any death, injury, loss, or damage caused directly or indirectly as a result of any deliberate act by you or any person driving your car.

...Thus any damage caused by someone deliberately moving their car to prevent someone driving off (even scum) will not be covered.

Bradford S3 robbery caught on cam.

Owner said she leaves keys on the stair's every night for this very reason, so they don;t come upstairs!
With it being the Daily Mail, I'm surprised they didn't find a way of making the victim sound responsible given her foreign-sounding surname.
"'I work in a local school and there's not many women who drive high-powered cars so lots of people know who I am."

This statement made me chuckle somewhat - 99% of the population wouldn't know the difference between an S3 and a 1.6TDI. Unless she was bragging to everyone about her "high powered car" (which isn't actually that high powered by today's standards), and that's what got her in this mess in the first place.

If we all did that no Pistonheader would ever go to work. Permafury is the mood of choice on here.

Update, the CCTV showed them ring the doorbell to see if they were in then came back a few minutes later.

That's what I'm told is the most common method that thieves use to find out if someone is in.

confused Why melt the uPVC with a blowtorch? Is this a way for thieves to get past anti-snap locks?

Yes, it melts the plastic part in the middle. Ideally you want the full lock to be metal.

Isn't the blowtorch so that they can expose the front of the lock to allow it to be snapped?
