Sorry, what I was saying was in reference to the post about the car coming to a stop later on after they're driven away. The Ghost immobiliser is available but they also make a system that is available on other makes aside from VAGs which cuts the power after it's been driven away.

The Clifford system does similar but from what I understand is a bit more of a in depth install (more wiring & extra switches etc) but that could be internet waffle.

ah, understood. I think unfortunately due to the amount of reliance on factory fit se urity there hasn't been much in the way of development of aftermarket products until the obd keyless go fiasco surfaced, I'm guessing with the rise in carjackings we might see some better products emerge.

Face fact's if you actually we're this local hardman they wouldn't rob you anyway would they ?
Bluntly, they'd come upstairs and they'd get a shouted warning that they should leave right now, otherwise they'll get shot. If they still think that coming into the bedroom is a good idea, it's up to them. 4 SGC holders in the house, 2 FACs. In such a situation, I'd take my chances in court. For clarity, I'm not talking about chasing them down the lane as they run away, I'm talking about retreating to a defensible space and shooting as a last resort to defend my family.

That said, it's slightly rhetorical because I don't have an S3 on the drive, and my collection of Alfas is generally unlocked anyway.

Makes for grim reading this thread.

In your opinion car theft through forced entry or brazen tactics is getting worse or increasing?

It must be related to literally no policing due to cuts. Sounds like a lawless society we live in.

These thriving scum simply do not give a st.

Yes it is. Fits any VW from Mk5 on right up to new Mk7.5

My friend has just had one fitted on his 2009 Seat Leon.

Not really. With the new iPhone feature announced this week ones the mugger just needs to hold it up to your face for a few seconds during the mugging for it to unlock!!!

I was talking to an Inspector in the Police the other day and he told me they can get called to a domestic and easily spend 2-4 hours there taking statements etc all because someone on Plenty-of-Fish/Tinder was trying to meet up with someone and the guy threatened her via the app through messenging.

...and while taking statements/trying to deal with it, the lass is still sat there trying to sort new dates while the Mother is getting involved and doing exactly the same thing! Must be infuriating for the Police to be tied up like that.

boohoo. what do most of these scum wear? thus by association its a given. you cannot argue with it as its fact.

i walk past a a bloke with big f off knife dripping with blood ina dark alley, but i shouldnt be anymore scared than walking past a little old granny. what a moronic attitude.

as for racial profiling, well lets open that can of worms shall we? who should be extra screened at an airport the brown guy with the big beard or the little 8 year old white girl.

lets not even start on london crime rates.

SJW, PC clowns.

edit, you may or may not be a scumbag, but you choose to dress like one, so people will be weary of it. thats the human race impressions of people are formed in the first few seconds based on appearances. deal with it! or change your clothes

Plot twist - the little old granny is Myra Hindley.

I do love the term SJW as a derogation though, as if being concerned for the wellbeing / fair treatment of others across the social spectrum is something to be scorned.
yeah, lets denigrate Churchill's memory as he looked off at a poor disabled ethnic lesbian once....

anyhoo, resume in lounge if you want. people will stereotype people based on appearance. its human nature.

I am planning to buy a performance car and of course security is my concern too. No garage but can't live in fear and let the c*nts win either. My strategy is if the thieves want the car, let them take it and insurance can get me another car (as long as I'm honest with insurers, which I would be).

However, use a Ghost Immobiliser (or the Pandora car alarms which look really good), let the thieves drive the car for a few miles (Even in some sort valet mode like 5mph?) and then stop the car, set the alarm off and lock the doors. In the mean time, police can do the rest.

Let the thieves take the car but this is a good way to ensure you get it back in one piece!

I agree that PIN codes etc will just infuriate the thief, depends on the thief (opportunistic thief or organised, etc).
The immobiliser/anti hijack sounds like the best option but sadly the ghost option isnt available for the VAG cars.
No way will you get the car back in one piece if you lock the scrotes in. They will destroy the interior. Which could end up with the car being written off.

I've got a better idea. Leave 'em a can of unleaded and some matches in the car. When they realise they're locked in, they might be tempted to burn it out...

I'd never thought of that. Glad I bought my S1 in Vegas Yellow now.

If i was the burglars I'd leave you in there and demand you tell me where the keys are or I will proceed to burn your house down. If you have the keys locked in there with you I'm asking you to slide them under the door and using a contraption to grab them so that I don't get into your line of fire or telling you to drop them from your window and to shut the window afterwards. (trying to put myself in the shoes of the burglars here, I would never steal anything).

I wish you the best of luck creating an impenetrable fortress and hope that my scenario only gives you ideas on how to be safer.

Edit. I'd probably start the fire, gives you a bit less time to decide. Hole up in the room and burn to death or tell me where the keys are and still have time to escape once I'm gone.

I'd have thought a warning shot would quickly change your mind?

Thieves may be stupid, but I reckon the majority aren't looking to get themselves killed stealing a car.

Crikey, probably very effective. But your hypothetical crime will attract more serious charges and result in more than a slap on the wrist.

I think you've been watching too much of the purge mate, most of these kids can barely tie their own shoe laces let alone manage complex hostage scenarios. First notion they get that you'll use serious violence to repel them they'll be out the house quicker than a shoplifter leaving JD Sports. If they had the minerals for that sort of caper they'd be kidnapping billionaires not nicking tarted up golfs in the shires.

Never seen the purge sorry.

I disagree, first sign that you'll use violence will make them "square up" haha.

It doesn't take a genius to smoke somebody out of their hiding spot.

A warning shot would result in me lighting the fire as some kind of dumb form of self defence.

They may not risk getting killed to take the car but they'll definitely risk it to not get caught (police chases prove this).

If I'm the type that's going to get the keys from the owner in bed, I don't think I'm worried about what crime I will be charged with afterwards.
