I’m impressed how long it ran at speed on a deflated rear without the tyre delaninating.

This thread makes me happy that I drive a Skoda. My mate had a SQ5 stolen from York a few weeks back, tracker worked until A1 near Doncaster then it went dead.

having had my audi stolen in broad daylight to be used as a tool for an armed robbery, the things i wish i had known before are: dont keep anything in the car, i.e. nothing. when i got my car stolen, i stupidly had my service history in there, drivers license and some cash- . when the police found the car the thieves had not stolen the service history but if i had never got the back back, to proceed with a claim you need the service history/v5, any car keys and drivers license, so no service history would have delayed things

in terms of insurance, as i had ticked all the boxes, protected no claims, courtesy car , etc, my insurance this year was actually lower

i heard in birmingham they are after Fast Fords- audi S/RS, Golf R. my car was stolen and the thieves had came to steal my specific car, in the car park when it was stolen there were about 40 cars . but they just targeted my specific car and spent 40 minutes in broad daylight getting it . They had driven into the car park in a vx zafifa, parked next to mine, and before they drove off had changed the plates on both the zafira and my audi.
the car was found by the police a week later in solihull, which is 8 miles away, but had driven for almost 1000 miles! The cops did not want to tell me how they found it, i thought it was amazing they had found it considering the numberplates were changed, but the damage on the car looked as if another car had hit the side of it- in the boot there were sledgehammers (not mine)

Do you know how they managed to steal it? 40mins sounds like a lot of time!

Car thieves are generally opportunists and DON'T want to risk being caught, therefore a theft is time limited with or without threats of initial violence. So if you have an immobiliser do you really think that they will break into your house, steal the keys, go out to the car and spend time trying to start it, then go back inside, find you, and the beat the crap out of you for the code (which may or may not be correct), then go back outside and try all over again???....noooooo. But like others suggest on here, you can save them all the hassle and just give them the keys and code....... and whilst your at it the money for a tank of fuel.
Yeh I think thats pretty much what I was saying? Apart from the opportunists part...

Another one...

Attempted carjacking at a set of lights in Bury.

Four offenders on two mopeds, this time it's a woman in a Bentley Bentayga. Terrifying stuff.

What a horrible thing to happen. Glad she got away but running them over would've been my first priority.

Can only imagine the helplessness of the woman in the Bentley.

I noticed the Moped pulled infront of another car.
Why did that other car not mow the down? I know I would.

Indeed, not sure how I would react but right now, my thoughts are, engage reverse, full left lock and introduce them to the pleasures of a 22 inch or so wheel and two and a bit tonnes going over their lower limbs, I mean, come on you panicked trying to get away and didnt mean to squish them.

I always maintain that a car should never be used a car as a weapon, but in that circumstance, its your best bet, if they get badly injured or killed then they shouldn't have attempted to steal someones car, I would feel zero remorse in that situation.

Was that a car jacking? Seems unusual.

A rare car on the road, so not the car to steal and blend in, especially with a broken window.

Wonder if it was a car jacking or targeted for other reasons- Could be to get an expensive watch/jewellery she was wearing if not some business involvement.

No, that would have spoiled the dashcam shot.

Well there is that, you dont know if drugs are involved, gang wars etc. Possibly stolen to order, to be shipped abroad somehow, whats that a £200k car over here?

It's a 4x4, should've done a bit of off roading.

So they were risking their lives to get a watch that may or may not have even been in the car that they probably just assumed nice car= nice watch???

A matte black Bentley Bentayga in Bury, I'd say they knew exactly what they were after. I guess it must be shock, but there is no movement of the car at all when they're smashing the windows in, even when there is a good car length behind.

Would love to know if vehicle related crime rate is up, or there is just more media coverage (and with social media, more media 'outlets' covering in the first place).

It's making me wonder at what point it will get to a stage of vigilantism. You have people saying they keep steering wheel locks at their side, someone I know on Facebook posted his order of a baseball last night, just for 'protection' (his street had a number of burglaries recently)... just wondering where we're going to end up here if the police and courts are doing nothing.

WOW. That is terrifying. This is why I always leave tyres + tarmac and if someone is right up my backside perhaps leave a little bit more. At least there's some room to manoeuvre if the worst does happen.
