Was pondering all that while watching - and the guy in the camera car too. At what point might it have been okay (ish) to intervene and try to squash the attackers between two cars. They'd struggle to repeat offend without legs.

Because people are too worried about self preservation to do the right thing.

I can totally get that. First, you'd have to properly immobilise the two attackers, first try. Then there's the potential hazard of the getaway riders too. In my van, I might be tempted, in my car, no way.

you'll end up in jail if you attempted to hit any of the retards smashing her car with a hammer attempting violent robbery of her watch

they'll get no punishment though and won't get caught, they'll just try again in a few days

Sadly, I would not disagree with any of that.

Plenty of opportunity for the victim to run the scrotes over at 0:30 ish (reverse and full left lock), but I guess when it's not happening to you, it's easier to be calm.

I must admit as I was watching it, my first thought was run them over, by whatever means. Two + tonnes of metal. Use it.

Another one...

Attempted carjacking at a set of lights in Bury.

Four offenders on two mopeds, this time it's a woman in a Bentley Bentayga. Terrifying stuff.

WOW. That is terrifying. This is why I always leave tyres + tarmac and if someone is right up my backside perhaps leave a little bit more. At least there's some room to manoeuvre if the worst does happen.
That is really bad and luckily she got away. I have a Ghost fitted so if it were me and couldn't get away I'd just turn the car off, leave them the keys and walk away (not going to fight two guys with hammers). Best bit is that the Ghost will let you start the engine without the code, but locks the auto gearbox in neutral and by which time they have sussed all that out I am not close by. Then the car ain't going nowhere unless they tow it with their scooter!!

Or they slap a tracker on it and just come round your house at a later date.

They were apparently after her watch, rather than the car... frown

Blimey. Same comment would apply if they wanted the car, but not worth defending your watch against two nutters with hammers though.

If you clipped any other vehicles whilst making good your escape, would you likely be charged with leaving the scene of an accident?
But you're not likely to go home for a cup of tea are you? You'd drive to the Police station (if one is open) or somewhere safe and call 999

If that was me I would be making off whatever the consequences and if that involved running the scrotes over and damaging another car and being hit with an insurance claim so be it.

Must be horrific for a lone female to encounter that.

I think if you seriously injured the s, they'd probably have to arrest you. I don't think it would go any further though.

It might depend on what you say though.

Jimmy, I agree with you and others who have posted similar. That is what I would do and that is what I have always advised the wife to do, (escape in car no matter what and deal with the consequences later).

All I'm wondering is what the likely repercussions would be from the police, CPS and the Courts?
I think they look at whether it was reasonable.

So if you hit them as it was unavoidable inorder for you to escape than that would be a non-event, if you however made an deliberate effort to hit them when they were not in your way then they may debate it a bit more.

However if you hit them and then reversed back again to finish them off, the CPS may not be so understanding.

They would probably sue you instead (with legal aid) and get you to pay vast damages.

We're getting more and more like South Africa each day. Parents brought up over there and have family and friends still there.

Doors locked when out, windows up at traffic lights, kept in gear when stopped, big gap to the car in front so you can go if needed, if you hit somebody reverse back over them as it's cheaper in the long run....

In the paper the other day about a burglar who tried to break into a family’s house and when he failed then tried to steal there car on the path. The Dad went out to scare him away and protect his family and the burglar squared up to him so he punched him and called the police. The Dad was then arrested charged and had to wait 11 months for a trial in which time he lost his job due to stress of a possible 2yr prison sentence but was thankfully cleared by the jury.
The burglar who is a career criminal and drug addict got 8 weeks in prison! mad
What a stupid justice system it’s an absolute joke.

I replaced a screen and a door glass in a old Hilux for a guy this week who went out for a drive on his farm with his wife and the dog to go for a nice walk. He spotted a car on his land that was unfamiliar, went over to see what was going on and saw that there were three lads inside it scarves over their faces and hoods up. One of them got out with a great big Stillson wrench, swung it through the door glass and then battered the screen with it.
Absolutely unbelievable that there are s like that about, completely thanks to a weak justice system that criminals don’t fear and leaves victims fearing repercussions if they fight back. Situations like that should be fair game for lining them up, showing them the hot end of a shot gun and throwing what’s left in a lime pit.

This isn't new. My uncle caught a burglar on his landing in the early 80s and knocked him out cold with the butt of a shotgun. My uncle was arrested and charged with ABH. Acquitted but went through hell getting there. Luckily being self employed, loss of job wasnt an issue.

While the law/Police is/are designed to protect the innocent and law abiding, it's seems to be actually heavily biased in favour of the criminal mad
