Can only imagine the helplessness of the woman in the Bentley.

I noticed the Moped pulled infront of another car.
Why did that other car not mow the down? I know I would.
If I was the car behind with the dashcam I think I would have had a serious panic attack causing me to hit the accelerator, reverse gear, move the steering wheel doing multiple three point turns and swerves into mopeds and men in masks holding hammers...

Stolen Land Rover, Focus ST and BMW used in cash machine theft.

The Defender just left behind once it's purpose has been served.

In the paper the other day about a burglar who tried to break into a family’s house and when he failed then tried to steal there car on the path. The Dad went out to scare him away and protect his family and the burglar squared up to him so he punched him and called the police. The Dad was then arrested charged and had to wait 11 months for a trial in which time he lost his job due to stress of a possible 2yr prison sentence but was thankfully cleared by the jury.
The burglar who is a career criminal and drug addict got 8 weeks in prison! mad
What a stupid justice system it’s an absolute joke.
Shame on the police and CPS for letting it go that far.

fking disgusting. You may as well bend over and give the burglar a tub of Vaseline.
I think though, if arrested, you need to ask for a solicitor and say nothing.

Surely the idea would be to just say the burglar came out you and you acted in self defence to protect yourself? Surely that wouldn’t result in a trial and potential 2yr sentence like the guy above faced. Maybe he was too honest in his description

The Police know how to interview someone and get them to say what they want. They should've heped the poor guy not to say something stupid, rather than incriminate himself. Everyone involved in prosecuting this guy should be ashamed and lose their jobs.

Unless there's more to it. It does mention a hammer.

Wow - that's not exactly the slickest of robberies. A fast estate would have helped.

Police presumably called but too busy shafting honest citizens for minor motoring offences.

So. I’ve just caught 2 lads trying to get into my car.

I was just shutting curtains and blinds to go to bed and saw a black cab arrive and these 2 lads who just looked rough get out and start standing near my car. One looked like he was taking photos.

I then saw the other one try the passenger door so I immediately called the Police. They left in another waiting car before I got connected to someone.

I explained what I saw and she was saying I should have stood at the window and shouted at them or gone out and had a go and scare them off because that’s what she would have done. I told her she was crazy if she thinks I’m doing that - there’s a difference between defending my property and announcing what house the keys are in.

I’ve reported it as attempted theft.

I presume your parked on a street so they can’t directly see which house it belongs to? Hence the hesitation to shout at them.
Was it a black cab or private hire? Might have helped if it was private hire to have at least got company name or car reg as police could have maybe traced the number that rang the cab to go to your address.
Can’t believe the advice you were given by police you would have been assaulted if u would have gone out to confront them.
It’s a crap situation to be in I would watch your back for a few days and maybe look at getting a tracker for it or park it at a friends house out the way for a week or so.

Car is parked on the street and isn't obvious which property the keys would be in. Mostly flats and a few houses surrounding the car so very hard to figure out where they keys are.

Black cab from the direction of our local high street and a private hire back towards where they'd just come from. You wouldn't come here if you didn't live or have business here. Unless I'm being paranoid, they must have known the car was here.

The advice was shockingly bad. She then got moody with me for defending my position of staying silent. I didn't want to shout and reveal a potential location of keys and there's no way I'm going out there.

I decided to report it as attempted theft regardless and I'm inclined to complain about her attitude and advice..

I've just thought, perhaps they've somehow been made aware the car is here and come to have a look to see if it's keyless or not so they know what tools to bring to steal it.

I would get it checked over at a garage to make sure they haven’t stuck a tracker underneath somewhere I’ve heard that’s what they do sometimes if they see a car worth stealing out at the shops say they will put a tracker on that leads them to where the car is located and go back in the night to get it.
Is it keyless? Be far safer if it isn’t otherwise I would be hiding that car at a friend/relatives house for a while.
It helps that they can’t determine what exact property the car keys are at so keep a look out for anyone suspicious over the next few days when getting in and out of your car

It's keyless but I've never actually heard of a Golf R going missing without keys but there's always a first time.

Doubt there's a tracker on it as it's usually in a properly secure, gated + guarded compound with CCTV or outside home on the street. Not been anywhere else. Will check the arches and under the car anyway.

I'm sure a lot of people will say it's a lot about nothing, but I know what I saw.

I remember going absolutely nuts at some lad that I caught looking into my car. I saw him from the window and was immediately on my feet and out the front door. He just looked at me like I was mental and walked off. Then came the terribly embarrassing realisation that he was wearing a school blazer, was probably 14 at most, and had actually been doing his hair in my wing mirror before picking up a girl who lives down the road.

laugh

I had something similar last week. Sat in the car waiting for the Mrs & a young lad with his mates walks up to the back window (they're tinted) & starts doing his hair. He hadn't noticed me until he walked away - he turned bright red & his mates were pissing themselves.

I couldn't own a car that was a magnet for nobheads - it must be awful every night going to bed & wondering if it will still be there in the morning. I get that "it's just a car" and "it's insured so who cares" etc., but I bet people saying that have never had that sickening feeling of something they own being taken.

I was putting air in my tires in my RS4 at the weekend where the air machine is quite far from the forecourt

Two burly Eastern Europeans drove up alongside by about 2 inches parked slightly in front of me in a Pheaton with gangster wheels got out and started walking towards me, and they were't going to ask for directions..

They saw the kids on the back got back into their car and drove off...Dodged a bullet there I think..

I might be wrong but I would put money on not having been

This is becoming more common. I don't know whether it's the pressure of a large number of calls or being asked to step outside their normal remit to compensate for a lack of resources, but this is the third instance I've heard of in as many weeks of people being asked to put themselves in a dangerous or dodgy position by a 999 call centre operator when reporting a crime. One unfortunately involved a suicide discovery, and would have caused the caller to disturb a crime scene had they followed instructions. The attending officer was livid when he heard what this person had been asked to do by the operator.
