One VERY good reason to have a Ghost immobiliser installed!!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pffcngJJq0
Ye I understand the ghost. But as others have said what’s to stop said thieves entering the house through whatever already damaged entry point they have and ask you for the code, I doubt politely.
Anyway yes I think I will put it to the back of my mind. Get a 3 door - don’t need 5 anyway, get some extra security and hopefully live on oblivious.

I've had my S3 a year next week, bought from new. 4 attempted breakins in 6 months at 2 different addresses, the last one was last night. Cameras, alarms and a dog, yet they still try. Every night at the moment someone seems to have an attempted burglary of a car near me! Nice area as well. Put it up for sale this morning as i cant be bothered with the hassle of having a nice car anymore!

Sorry to hear that Sam, and welcome, can I ask what general area you are in ?anonymous said:

I live in Huddersfield, had GTIs and Rs for 10 years and have never had an attempted break in, nor have any of my friends who drive similar cars. Park both my Golf Rs outside my house and can honestly say, there has been no interest in them that I'm aware of.In fact I can recall only two performance Golfs being stolen in Huddersfield in the last 3 - 4 years.

Lindley, so about 2 miles from the centre. I'm not for one minute saying car crime isn't rife in West Yorkshire, but I think a massive percentage of that is down to Bradford and to a lesser extent Leeds. I honestly don't hear about much car theft in Huddersfield.
I'm just down the road in Elland but we are in the posh bit with the cars parked along way from the main road, behind 2 electric gates and in a garage! but im making sure everything is secure and it does worry me. My company car has a tracker fitted anyway, we had to due to insurance terms as a few got stolen in the last 2-3 yearsI work in brighouse and apparently last weekend, 16 cars were stolen in the local area. I am on the local facebook pages and there was a lot of posts about targeted break in's for cars.
Thankfully my car is bright orange....

At around £350.00 fitted a Ghost is a good investment.....just imagine what the insurance hike could be, the potential GAP if not covered on a new car, let alone the hassle. Also, you can transfer it to another vehicle. As for anyone coming back into your house and asking you for the code after failing to start it, probably one in a million chance. One thing that baffles me is that people would rather spend £1000's on options and aftermarket parts, and ignore spending anything on a worthwhile car theft security system.Anyway yes I think I will put it to the back of my mind. Whilst i dont doubt the Ghost is a good bit of kit, its not thatcham approved. Its only an incarnation of the Clifford blackjax from yesteryear. That was thatcham approved. Which to me says theres a vital floor in the system somewhere. There are much better alarm systems available on the market, Pandora springs to mind. Ability to control the entire vehicle from your phone from anywhere around the world. Gets stolen, simply turn the car off and go collect it. It has anti hijack, locking the doors until the keys are out of the ignition. Tracking system on your phone, back up battery's for the alarm. The Ghost doesn't prevent the thief getting the code from you, thats a vital floor right thereHedgeyGedgey said:

And when said thief appears with a cheap and readily available eBay special signal/gsm blocker it is pretty much useless is it not?Gav147 said:

Yes and no, it uses the gps system on the sat nav and an added gps sensor. And then a GSM modem as well. So if they block the signal, only the gps or GSM function is blocked dont know of a blocker that does both but happy to br proved wrong. Its a top of the range system, thats only half of it. The type of encryption the remote uses is un-hackable. The experts say it'd take around 20 years to crack the encryption. Wont get much change if any from £2k for the system thoughHedgeyGedgey said:

All the thief needs to block is the gsm signal to render the disable you control over the car, then all you can do is watch where it goes.... Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
