I also remember scuderias and 599 gto's going for 100-200k and F355's going for 40-70k now all of them have more than doubled in value.
Yep, bought my 355 for £30k at the back end of 2012. Mentally wrote off that money but easily the best "investment" I ever made. LHD Scuds could be had in Europe for £85k even more recently than that with Scud Spiders in the low hundreds, both sadly out of my price range at the time. What I really wanted when I bought the 355 was a F50; I've always loved them. I seem to remember the low end was down at £1xx,000 at one point?

Obviously I'm not the expert and he is, but watching him on the throttle looks very un-smooth (is that a word)

I've always been taught on track days to be as smooth as possible (smooth is faster), but mid corner, it just looks like he is on-of-on-off with the throttle.
You also don't often see many videos of people's feet when driving!

That is normal, and what any driver will be doing as you feel for the grip versus the amount of track you have to play with.

He is only left foot braking to ensure the pads are correctly located. A habit from being a seasoned race driver. Given it is a Best Motoring video, I am guessing that is Gan San from his build.

At the height of the recession F40s were going for as little as £250k, I think F50s about the same.

Not sure about pretty... especially at the time. I think it's a 'grower', but nevertheless from some angles it doesn't look quite right. The F40 is certainly far better looking. Combine that with it not necessarily being any quicker, or better to drive, then it's hardly a shocker they were never that popular - and that's ignoring the advent of the F1.

I know with these cars the buyers don't really care about value, but the Carrera GT makes just as good a noise, is far prettier, has the provenance, and will be more modern to drive. But because they made far more, they will always be much cheaper than an F50 - would be an easy choice for me.

I've always liked the F50, from when I first drove one on Need For Speed 2 :-)
