Therefore there is some chance there will be some edit to that front end.

Obviously, that was just a conversation, and for certain he would have been trying to keep me excited and keen (rather than pull out my deposit), but I loved how they took the feedback, and honestly though I don't expect there to be any very noticeable change - all I am saying is, it is possible there will be some minor edit (though I'm certain there won't be any changed to the lights, or anything as major as that!).
Pistonheads plumbs depths - 'edit'????? FFS.

ETA ... which is a real shame, as we can see from the lines and various details that it's a design engineered for proper manufacturing. Sigh.
Looks good to me, I didn't see a fish when I saw it at Goodwood. Have you seen it yet?

For a real fish face there's Peugeot - the 507

I don't know why everyone is saying it should look more aggressive, it's not like the original Griff was a particularly aggressive looking car

The nose looks good imo and what're all these comments about the door slam noise? It's not an '80s Audi ffs.

That shot doesn’t make me think ‘fish’ - it makes me think - where on earth is the front number plate going to go so as to not knacker cooling or airflow???

ETA: I think I now know what I don’t like about the front end - the headlights are too big. Easily resolved but expensive I’d imagine.

The interior looks extremely cheap.
And the tinny door-slam at ~21secs sounds like a 1980s Lada.
Are you now moaning that the door shut sound is not good enough? Perhaps they should have spent more time focusing on making it sound like a golf then they could make an advert saying "well it sounds like a golf".

It's easy to engineer a better door sound but that adds weight. Then you'd be moaning that the car is too heavy. Perhaps TVR is not your thing.

When I first tried a T350, I was not that taken in by its looks or the flimsy door opening/shutting. But when I test drove it, I knew I just had to have one. If the new Griffith feels visceral and alive when you drive it then I would say TVR has succeeded. This is the one thing which modern day performance sports cars are not able to offer anymore.

75MM Graham Hill Trophy Race. The last 10minutes were superb....I think it deserves a link......starts at 11mins to go...

Sorry I just took this quote for the image of the original TVR, to illustrate a point.

So the new TVR Griffith takes its inspiration on design from the original Griffith. I don't think the original had a very aggressive front end look. In fact, it looks like a "happy smiley" front end. Perhaps that's why the new one does not have an aggressive look at the front end. But then if it did, I'm sure the moaners would say "how come they say they take inspiration from the original design, that didn't have an aggressive front end, so it doesn't have TVR DNA".

I don't think they can win either way.rolleyes

That was the most exciting race I've seen for years.. the (60s) Griffith was absolutely ballistic.

The Ferrari in the flesh is very slab sided, huge and uninspiring. Spent the weekend next to one. It'll get a pass because of the badge!
It's also £65,000 more expensive (with no options)...

I feel this is a little unfair comparing two utterly different makes, the new Griff' will never be a Ferrari, and vice-a-versa, two really quite different cars.

It's a bit like comparing an MX5 to an F-Type (similar gulf in price there too I should add).

Ultimately I'm far more interested in how it drives. Looks good enough to my eyes, I'm hoping for something as fun as my Tuscan but a little more refined and with some properly sorted handling.

Looking forward to some road tests and reviews!
By no means was I trying to compare, of course not, just an example where I feel the badge has more say. The design of the new Bentley Continental is another I think they ruined at the front. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that jazz...

What I will say though, the new Griffith has generated more posts on a new car (positive and negative!) than I have seen for a long while thumbupbeer
Indeed! Lots of buzz, as they say "all publicity is good publicity"

I'm not a massive fan of new cars - but I really like this. The most interesting car for a long time. Very jealous of the owners-to-be; can't wait to have a ride in one.

I take a slightly vague offence to that. I HAVE put my deposit down, and frankly I can't wait to get my hands on it! But, I'm also one of those who has said here that I would like it to be a little more aggressive/have a bit more bite at the front end, but then the TVR's I remember the best are the later ones which were aggressive in looks, and no, not all were.

there is a lot of inspiration from the 60s Griffs in this car.. and they had a friendly face... until they ate Cobras (AC) for breakfast

Nonsense, take the rose tinted glasses off. Getting the power down in a 4.5 V8 Cerbera in anything other than perfect conditions is an absolute nightmare. The T350c I had after was slightly better but a long way away from being "great" handling cars.

Entirely agree with you Tuvra. Although actually my Chimaera 400 seemed to find it harder to put all the power down than my Cerbera 4.5 - I found the fact that the Cerbera's engine needed more revs than the Chimaera's made it easier to meter out the power, although probably the longer wheelbase helped too.
