Everyone where I live drives, you have too, maybe in the big cities you can share, etc, but in rural areas where electric car infrastructure and car share scheme(s) are not yet present and the area will not be a business priority then ... I can't see anything changing for a few years yet.
Secondly, we have a number of students who carry out placements / internships, etc, the only reason they use car sharing services is because they can't afford their own, wages are down and competition for entry levels jobs are up, who in their mid 30's on the average £40k will want to share a car?
