I also love the Porsche 964 turbo s from bad boys!
It was a 3.6 IIRC, not an S, so you could probably get two of them for the same price now!

Something which looks like this, but is about 1/3rd bigger to accommodate a set of rear seats for kids.

Ideally an N/A straight six about 350 Or 400 whp.

I'd want singer to do the interior, having spent months looking at things like jenson interceptors, Aston Martins and 60s Italian coupes for style inspiration.

Whisper it quietly, but I'd want an auto...

Mine's close.

Alfa Guilia in estate form (which they are now not making banghead as the Stevio will cover that market apparently. Hint to Alfa - not everyone wants an SUV...).

it looks awkward as well, not a patch on the 159 or the guilia.

I have stuck with my 159 for 5 years now due to not being able to find a decent alternative frown

I just want a manual rwd estate with a big petrol engine, 33:33:33 rear seat split and a pair of seats in the boot.

Rocket.

I like the way you think, sir! biggrin

That's a better thread idea; if you could pick a used car to have brand new, what would it be? shoot

For me it'd be something along the lines of my Elise but with a Mclaren F1 type seating layout and the engine from the NSX.

Or to put it another way, an Aeon GT3 V6 with production car design, fit, finish and parts availability.

1000kg ish
RWD Coupe
N/A free revving, characterful 4 cylinder ~150-200bhp
Manual box with great shift quality. 5 closely packed gears with long 6th ratio.
Spartan but nicely trimmed and comfortable interior. Don't need toys but don't want backache.
Handling and steering by Lotus. In fact I'd love to see Lotus make a car exactly like this. The Europa ticked some of the right boxes, would quite like one.

There are a few cars that come close. GT86/BRZ. MX5 RF. Ginetta G40.

Or...

I want the new Defender to be a 4x4 (with centre tube torsion chassis and portal axles a la Pinzgauer)*, swivel front seats, 33:33:33 split middle row and a pair in the rear, pillarless doors, twin canvas sunrooves and large petrol engine and manual box.

  • Tbh this isn't vital.
Plus I'd prefer Toyota to build it. paperbag

I'd be greedy and want two:

ND MX-5 with a flat plane crank'd V8 that revs to 9k makes about 500 BHP and still weighs about 1000kg. Would be a modern day Griffin with far better build quality IMO. Possible to build something close, very tempting: https://www.flyinmiata.com/V8/ND.php

A true lightweight estate car, something based on the E90 M3 but using a carbon fibre tub, carbon/kelvar panels, etc. to try and lower the weight to under 1400kg, preferably under 1300kg. It'd need to still seat 4 adults, be rated for towing and have a decent sized boot.

A K20A Jazz Type R would be nice but this would do I suppose.

A 1.5l Turbo with 250bhp, sub 1,000kg, Recaros, Brembos, LSD, hydraulic steering and all for £22995.

Yes, but it would still max out at 42mph on an A road like all the others.

I have a theory about that, I think the Jazz speedo over reads by 100%, so when Doris thinks she is ripping along at an indicated 80mph, she is actually holding everyone up at 40mph.

2 door, 2 seater estate, V6 with about 250 BHP and 35 mpg. The Z3 M Coupe comes close to what I have in mind or the old Jensen GT.
