BMW's Techno Violet is stunning and a personal favourite
Another fan of Techno Violet here. My Alpina was Madeira Violet, similar but a bit darker. Looked fantastic in the sunshine. I'm not normally all that bothered about colour on cars but BMW are responsible for the only colours that I've really taken any note of, others being Dakar yellow (looked fantastic on E36's in particular) and I love imola red. There's been some good blues too. Worth mentioning that they're also responsible for some of the most repulsive colours imaginable as well but more good than bad I think. And yet most of them are bought in white, black or grey.
In terms of best on regular, every day cars, non model specific:
Silver: great for longevity, scratches and swirls hardly show. Washed and polished on a half decent car it can look good, particularly MB.
Solid Black: horrendous for keeping clean and shows swirls and scratches easily, but when a vehicle is in good condition and its freshly washed and polished it looks superb.
