5:15 layover in JFK this week, any suggestions?

I'm flying to JFK then onwards to Chicago next week but have to suffer a 5:15 layover in JFK around midday.

Was thinking of getting the air train and bus etc to the green acres mall, but given its about an hours trip each way, i'm guessing i'll only have an hour or so in there before needing to return to check in for my domestic onward flight.

Any suggestions?

Weather is glorious this week, so maybe a quick cab/uber to Rockaway or Atlantic beach?

Or, just pick a nice place for lunch, grab a cab/uber there and then head straight back. (Perhaps have some proper pizza instead of the thing they call pizza in Chicago )

Certainly doable in the time available to you if you are organised.

I visited the Jamaica Bay wildlife refuge last time I had a few hours to kill before flying out of JFK. Quite a pleasant walk by the coast. It's about 20 mins away. Hopefully your layover time doesn't get eaten up by the immigration queue.
