Well I'd never heard of Chassis Ears before. Clever idea.

Not a new idea, they’ve been doing it in Japan for years

If you are based in Essex you could give a try to Power Developments in Basildon . They are VW & Audi specialists .
I have used them a few times on various cars .

I would change all of the bushes and see if it goes, not a big problem to do and not expensive. Then change the shock absorbers (change both sides together) and keep going like that.

On a lot of these cars you just buy the whole arm with the bushes in them.

Heard a similar noise on a b7 Audi 3.0tdi quattro.

Cured that by using loctite when fitting front wheel bearing

As above I spent a week tracking down a creak in a brand new x5 about 7 years ago it was a lot of trial and error including driving it with every nothing only two seats and a dash in it to find it was where the roof skin met the a pillar on the passenger side. The two surfaces would rub together. Swift tap of a chisel and skim of seam sealer cured it. Quiet a big warranty Bill at 120 euro an hour labour rate. Hopefully your noise can be tracked down a lot easier
