Looking at the sheet it shows all 3 services, tyre changes and windscreen wiper changes, looks very detailed

Agree with another post, printout is always better than a stamped book. we have come across many books stamped and when we have rang the place to qualify and confirm, they had no knowledge or record of it.

if its on computer its always a safe bet.

I sold a Grand scenic in 2012, 1.6 Diesel (more expensive engine), with Bose pack and sunroof (I think anyway) and they wouldn’t pay for metallic.

Pacific Blue on a £20k+ Scenic. Mental.
I'm with them all the way smile Spend the money on stuff that makes a difference to YOU. Most cars, you simply can't tell if the outside is grey or pink once your in the driving seat. and if I was buying a Grand Scenic I probably wouldn't be spending any of my life admiring it from outside, regardless of colour.

What about white cars? I'm unsure if they're "a thing" because they're cheaper, or because people actually like them.
I'd be very happy with Pacific Blue, it's a lovely colour paperbag

I have had customers refuse on principle to add a cost option colour as they don't feel that they should have to pay for a different colour, I think it's odd that someone will pay 10's of thousands on an item that they will see and be in, everyday and not spend a bit more on a more agreeable colour.
Paying extra for met paint is an interesting one. A nice colour - in and out, and I mourn the loss of interesting interiors on many cars - is important to me, but I do share the frustration that having spent my 10s of thousands, I then need to pay extra for metallic paint.

I could understand it in the olden days when life was in black and white, but metallic is ubiquitous and charging extra for it these days is a bit of a piss take. Paying more for wacky, individual colours is fair enough, but for normal fare it's not really cricket.
Mini Yours Lapisluxury Blue is a Mini Yours colour and costs about £750.00 but it's just a solid Doom Blue colour of the sort that's the nasty no cost option for other manufacturers. Pearl effect Moonwalk Grey is the no cost colour, even though Pavement Grey is a fashionable colour now. The solids cost the same as the other metallics. Most manufacturers charge extra for solid red and solid white as people have been starting to favour those colours for the look of them. The no cost option is usually a solid dark blue or grey.

Anyone know of a decent insurance company, bought astra 14 plate 1.6cdti ecoflex and getting some silly quote's that are much higher than expected and what extras do I take, I normally get breakdown cover but not what else is worth it

Fortunately we don't run Renaultsport, it is amazing the amount of people who come in wanting a test drive in a Renaultsport, you tell them that you don't run them and the nearest garage that does is xyx and they say, "oh that's too far to go, thank you anyway", yep, you are clearly a waster, won't drive 17 miles to look at and test drive a car that you say you are keen on!!
I'm amazed people will spend their time doing this knowing they can't afford the car or 'just browsing/curious but no intention'. They have to go through the signing up, questions, show licence, calls etc. What's the point?

I'd like to see how a Boxster drives but I've zero intention in wasting anyone's time

A quote from the recent Carpool on PH

"I'm of the opinion that if a car manufacturer opens a showroom and puts cars in it, it's an offer to come and test their cars. I've test driven plenty of cars (sorry sales people!)“

Yes, people come in just to drive cars. People want to borrow them for days out, vans to take rubbish to the tip etc. People are odd.

There are also plenty of cars that I'd like a to try out, however I wouldn't waste mine or anyone else's time having a test drive "just because".

There are people who arrange viewings of houses for sale, with absolutely zero intention of buying; the general public is very odd!

Had a strange one the other day.
Guy phones up on a car we had up for sale at £ 5500, and asks he can come down for a look.
Hour later he turned up with the wife, love the car, just what he wants etc, ive had one of these before and regretted selling it etc...and how much for my car in p/x etc?
So I do an appraisal and offer him £5500, so technically a straight swop.
However, he wants £6200, CAP clean by the way is £5500.
Nice clean car, but it's a Yaris semi Auto, not the most desirable thing, and to be honest, I would rather keep the car that we have, rather than his Yaris which has got 90 days written all over it.
He starts getting all upset, mouthing off that we are taking the piss etc, I know what my car is worth etc...
In the meantime, another couple wonder in to the office and ask for the keys for the same car!!!
Happy days I'm thinking.
This bloke gets all upset that someone else is interested in the car that he is interested in and starts getting real shirty.
He storms out of the office in a fit of rage, wanders over to the other couple that are looking at the car, and has an animated conversation with them.
I go out and ask the couple what it was he said.
He had told them not to buy anything from this dealer, because we are rip off merchants etc, and that we were taking the piss and all our cars were junk etc...
All because I wouldn't offer him what he wanted for his piece of st Yaris semi Auto, undesirable dog turd of a car.
He had already told me that it was a horrible car to drive and wished he had never bought it.
People are weird.

Wow. Buying a car can take time. Time I'd rather spend relaxing outside of work once bought. People are odd indeed.

Mmm, agree, some families seem to treat it as a cheap day out for the kids walking around car dealers and test driving cars on a bank holiday weekend or when the kids are off school.
Has always baffled me.

I was video mystery shopped today, by someone who has video shopped me before; I think 5 times now, over the years.

Funny thing was as soon as we clocked each other, we both knew, he gave me a smile and a wink which said it all, we both ran through all the motions; the odd knowing wink and nod here and there, between the two of us, there was a bit of banter; "have you been here before?" said I "ummm, I think I may have enquired a few years ago", said he, "it's just that I'm sure I recognise you, or maybe you look like someone that I've dealt with before", said I.

I finished off, did everthing that is expected of me, walked him to the door, shook his hand with a friendly "goodbye".

He walked off, turned his camera off, turned round and we had a chat for 20 minutes.
I used to have a giggle to myself when i seen some of the videos, loved it when the lads got in "mystery"
Can remember power questioning the life out a guy when i was on the floor years ago, realised he was a "shopper" ... must have been his first one, poor guy didnt have a clue. My GM at the time gave me his demo for a week as a reward.

Out of curiosity, what Yaris was it? They stopped the MMT in 2011, so it just seems a steep price for one.

Men of Pistonheads, please don't get the wife to call up for a price of a van, I get this a few times a month:

Wife, "How much is a van?"
Me, "What type of van?"
Wife, "One like my husband already has"
Me, "What van does he have?"
Wife, "A big van"
Me, "Well we have the Trafic and Master, they are both large vans, the Master being bigger"
Wife, "Yes that one"
Me, "Well which one as they are quite different?"
Wife, "One with a high top"
Me, "They are both available with a high top, do you need one where your husband can stand up in or does it need to be higher; he will be able to stand up in a Master medium roof but will need a high top to stand up in a Trafic, or do you need the high top for big items?"
Wife, "Err he is a delivery driver"
Me, "Also each van is available in different lengths and weights, I really need to know exactly what he is after?"
Wife, "Errr, I'll get him to call you"
Me, "Yes, I think that would be better"

The above isn't totally accurate but it went very similarly to as written.

We get it alot from the secretary/PA of a company, clearly the secretary/PA has been asked to find out the cost of a van; do specifics, nothing just "can you tell me how much a ............ is?"

If you'd rather keep the car you have, then why offer him the same value for his (since you made a direct comparison and said yours was 'worth' more to you)?

Offered him a price I would be 'happy' to pay for it which was £5500 but given the choice I would rather own the car we have for sale on the pitch and wait for a different buyer.
At £6200, which is what he wanted, it was too much, would have cost us money to do the deal, as in returning him a cheque for £700 also.
The car we have, will sell quickly I believe, so I an quite happy to have not done that particular deal.

Yaris Auto, 13 plate, may just have been a normal auto, to be honest, I was yawning whilst walking up to it, so really didn't take much notice, I knew I didn't really want it in a backwards deal anyway.

That would have been the CVT, we do really well with them, but yeah £700 over CAP clean was never going to happen.

My point was that you offered him a deal that you didn't want to do, which would have made no money but instead left you with a car that you feel would have taken longer to sell. Seems a strange strategy...
