Do dealers intentionally send personalised videos asking if I would like to upgrade my car after my current deal ended from the saleswoman with the biggest knockers?

Not that I'm complaining mind... hehe
Have you seriously been sent a video asking this?

If so it sounds like absolute wk!

That is terrible, whats wrong with just a phone call or e-mail; how cringe.

No doubt something thought up by some idiot in head office who hasn't a clue.

Or thought up by the saleswoman.

If a man had suggested it, she would have been in to HR for a 6 figure payout quicker than George Galloway going to a Fidel Castro suck-off competition. But if she chooses to do it, it's empowering to women, and shows how stupid men are.

1st day back after a weeks holiday and the first enquiry I get is.....

I don't have my car with me and cant remember the reg its an 08 plate with about er lets say between 70k to 90k whats the value on that.....

Is there a thread here for ask a car buyer questions, as I would love to know what customers feel is the best possibly outcome to this scenario.

the guy then had the cheek to get annoyed with me for not valuing his car which wasn't here nor did he have the details

We share part of our forecourt with a Shell garage, occasionally as I'm walking by I'll get accosted by some randomer who's filling up "oi mate, can you tell me what my car's worth?".

The thing is they just expect me to reel it off there and then, like I have some encyclopedic knowledge of every car, spec, mileage adjustment, age etc.

Easy enough to weedle out the wasters though; "err yes, after you have filled up, pop over there (as I'm pointing to the showroom) to see me and I'll do a valuation for you, it'll take about 20 minutes?"

Without exception the response is "oh I thought you'd know, don't worry!"

We have started to say no we are not prepared to value a vehicle without seeing it. even to people over the phone or email its just not been worth it.

Recent one we had gentlemen with a bmw was 200 miles from us, Bog standard model above average miles and no history wanted a guide price, said to be honest I couldn't give or want to give a guide price without seeing it can you send us some images at least. he says no its a clean car.

Tells us apart from no History its immaculate only needs 1 alloy refurb doing, we said ok if you are that confident come and bring your car we will take ours off sale and prep it ready for you to collect.

2 days later he is here and we appraise his car.... needs about £800 bodywork doing. sent him packing thanks for letting us see your car its not what we expected and we would prefer to keep our car in stock than have yours for now.

A few years back i bought a used X-Trail from the main dealer in Sunderland. The car had to be transported there from another branch in the country and (reasonably i thought) they charge me the transportation costs to have it delivered (which was deducted from the purchase price if i bought it).

Car arrives, we started negotiating and once the usual suspects of paint protection polish etc had been removed, we agreed a price.

Come day of collection, the sales person i was dealing with was off and one of the new car sales team did the hand over. I walked in and once i overcame the smell of aftershave, the slicked back hair and pin stripe suit we started the handover.

Signed all the paperwork and he went out stating "i'll get the key and bring the car round". Key, as in singular.

I enquired where the other one was and he stated "it's what it came with so it's what you get". Obviously wanting to have a second key in case anything happened to the first, i asked if they would supply one and was told "it'll be £195 for the key and coding".

I'd just spent £15K on the car (luckily on 0% finance) and was told "tough, it's another £195".

Now i'm not one for confrontation but at this point, my exact words were "i tell you what, bks to your car and i'll be on my way" which to be fair didn't phase laddo who said "fair enough, do what you want" and then he left the office.

I was putting my paperwork back in the folder for my car when he rather sheepishly came back in to the office and told me that "as we've signed all the paperwork over to you, we can't sell the car to anyone else".

After being informed "well that's your problem not mine" his attitude changed considerably and that the confirmation that the dealership would be providing the car FOC.

I later found out that he'd trotted off to the dealer principles office when i was putting my paperwork away where he was informed of his predicament.

I wouldn't mind but the used sales chap was spot on and couldn't have been more helpful.

The other incident which springs to mind was going to a Ford main dealer and being jumped on by half a dozen sales chaps from the used section during the walk from the parking point to the showroom, whilst being totally ignored by four chaps in the new car section (they were more interested in trying to tap up the receptionist).

There is a large main dealer group in Surrey that have signs up stating that whilst they aim to deliver all used cars with a spare key, if they don't have one then tough. Well it's a little politer than that, but that's the gist of it!

Cant really understand the logic in this, Surely providing 2 keys isn't a major issue and they have enough profit to do so.

We always provide 2 keys to customers but we do also knock a bit of a part exchange if they only have 1 key and value it accordingly.

I had a bloke buy a 530d that only had one key and his px had 2 keys. He started throwing a wobbly about it only having 1 key and we went back and forth for a while and then he shouts "well what if my car only had 1 key eh?" So i gave him the second key from his px and he marched out with it and I never saw or heard from him again

Fantastic customer service. That'll learn him. rolleyes

How about, as he is the customer and is giving you £££, you provide him a second key? No doubt the BMW was advertised and sold as a "premium" car - yet you appear to be penny-pinching?

If you look around their used cars they are all ex auction fodder so I can imagine a fair few are bought without them. They don't even change the number plates for their own, they put a sticker over the original dealer details with their own on so I can't imagine they prep cars well and spend a single penny than they really have to.
