An American guy moved in across the road from us and he haggled over everything when he was kitting out the house. Comet used to discount if you asked. My brother haggles when he buys suits.

It's only going to cover 5 miles a day, originally we were going to consider a smart forfour but have one as a hire car and it's not nice, so it's fiesta or 1.2 swift, it gives us more money to put to a mustang ....
Wouldn't an electric hybrid jobby be perfect for that sort of use?

Hi Dan W,

Quick question if you don’t mind, do you have any idea when the new Swift Sport will be hitting showrooms?

Cheers

I was recently offered 33% off list for a brand new Citroen DS5. I'm sure others can do better!
It's not a Citroen, it's a DS ! Those marketing/ sales dudes must try harder smile

33% seems fair. I have no idea why Ford or Vauxhall (I don't know that much about DS) even bother publishing/ making up list prices though.
$15k off an X5 Msport special Orders. US spec, delivered outside the US before you ask!

What is the biggest discount you sales guys have given on a new car ?

I'm excluding used due to the massive variables in quality on the used market ... but if you've sold a good'un massively under its value, feel free to include it ...
I got 30% off an M3 once something like £18500 discount, I didn't haggle.

As a customer how do you take being told to go and buy the car elsewhere ?

Just had a customer in with a car wow quote and said if we can make it he will buy from us, had a look at it and even with all the discounts and hitting target and everything else it would lose £600 to actually do the deal for us.

So in a polite way said mr Customer I would go and snap their arm off and do the deal its losing money and we are not prepared to do that, good luck with the purchase if it doesn't work out feel free to come back to us..

You would have thought we had just slapped him round the face with a leather glove, he was so insulted we wouldn't lose money to sell a car he was going to write a letter to the Suzuki to complain we wont do a deal losing deal just so he doesn't have to travel 160 miles to collect this car.

Anyone sales side or customers had similar experience ?
Not by being screamed and shouted at and accused of being a time waster and a liar by an enraged fiat sales guy when me and the Mrs were buying a new punto back in the late 90's. The guy got sacked we found out later for his massive over-reaction. Honestly thought there were going to be fisticuffs at one point..!!

I was guided towards the door by a hand gently on my elbow after I'd asked about discount in a county town VW dealer. "I do't think we'll be able to do business today, sir" said the salesman.

Didn't bother me - just bought they car somewhere else.

Must have been a thing then with a certain type of VW dealer - very similar happened to a colleague in the next county. He managed to recover the situation though - I didn't even try as I'd had prices elsewhere.

Why even bother asking, just go online to one of these car broker places and get one without hassle.

Not every customer is confident buying online, especially the older generation

That is disappointing, they have been out in Oz for a good few months. From the YouTube reviews they seem decent. Are we likely to get differing spec? I know we tend to get European chassis set up etc.

You aren't buying online. You buy it off a dealer.
