Happy New Beer Year!

Quick question guys, I’m looking to buy a car soon and plan to part exchange using the mrs car (registered in her name) but was just wondering if that’s possible and/or complicated? Obviously she’ll be there to sign...

...or in her words, to make sure I don’t buy anything stupid! tank

Cheers

As long as it’s not a scrappage deal or something like that with a specific clause on ownership etc then it doesn’t matter who’s name etc it’s in. Good luck.

Very quite last 3 weeks of December, some very strange folk out and about.
Back on it yesterday, and was mentally busy again, just have to weed out the lonely and bored people on the pitch.
Seems to be plenty about at the moment lol.
Most of the email enquiries coming in at the moment are comical to say the least.!,

First day back since the 22nd December. I've missed a few deals whilst I've been off, but I expected that to happen so I've already made peace with it hehe

Took yesterday as a holiday day to get over the flu bug I've had, feeling like I should have taken today too!

What's the quietest time of day or day of week/month in a new car showroom? Mid morning? Tuesday/Wednesday? Start of the month?

I'm fleet and November was really tough as was the start of December. Day after the elections it went manic and ended up having my best ever month in the motor trade.

Could it have been bought by a taxi driver? It would have a local authority taxi test rather than an MOT. Some LA’s will issue an MOT certificate if requested at an extra charge but there is no requirement to have one.
I'd say that was unlikely, it was a 1.6T Qashqai - they'd have to be some kind of masochist to run that as a taxi! wobble

Still not MOT'd... whoops. Heigh ho.

Hackney’s don’t need an mot unless being used for private use as well as a taxi

Admin fees? What's the score here? What are they actually covering as its £149.

Car is bought on hp finance if it makes any difference. Last two purchases from dealer haven't included this. One last march from Toyota rrg & 7 years ago from kia rrg

Usually profit as people search by price on Auto Trader et al, and as demonstrated by many threads on PH, will travel hundreds of miles to save £2.37 on a car.

Coupled with Auto Traders unrealistic price markers, dealers are trying to build money back in to a deal.

I don't agree with it (we don't do it), but I have bought a car with an admin fee. It didn't bother me as I told them the price I wanted to pay for the car and it's up to then how they showed the final figure.

Decided I'd like something sporty this year.

Well been fancying it for 3 or 4 months as I've managed to change almost all my work passwords over in that time to the new car.

Finally thought it was worth speaking to the two nearest decent dealers to get a rough estimate of costs. Gave them a quick call. Looks like it is doable and discovered Oakmere also have a handy PCP/HP calculator on their site so I can play about a bit.

For now, I've knocked up a spreadsheet with the handful of used cars there are for sale. Pretty small spread of prices so prob worth going for a better one. Will keep an eye on prices over the next few months. Saw one car had dropped £2k since the beginning of the week.

Want to run a few months putting what would be the HP amount o one side to make sure I'm happy forgoing a social life. Also need to check driveway space and speed humps scrapage. don't feel its right or likely I'll be able to get a car to check that (due to distance) and I'm not comfortable measuring it accurately. I'm hoping I can find a generous person over the spring that will let me try and crack their splitter or ding their doors on my brickwork.

Yes a long way off and i'm aware most sales seem very uninterested unless you're buying that day but I like to be sure what I am buying is right and hopefully can get a good deal along the way.

...and as demonstrated by the McLaren video linked above, where the guy had a 500 mile round trip to the dealership, and was financing the car on 10K miles p/a...

(although TBF I expect more than £2.37 was involved, and McLaren dealers are rather thin on the ground)

Wow, going into January 2020, it's like the tap has been turned on and is on full flow, so far this month we have been mega busy; phone calls, walk ins, Internet enquiries, it has not stopped.
